You should applaud Sam and Mizzou rather than act threatened by a tough dominant gay man. He respesented what this conference is about: Domination.

Sam, and by default Mizzou, singlehandedly improved the nation's negative perception of a conference and region that for a couple hundred years has been plagued by historic bigotry and perceived ignorance.

Mizzou's competitive addition to the SEC and our support of a gay athlete who happened to be one the most dominant football players in 2014 will be remembered as one of the most (if not the most) important and celebrated turning points in SEC and southern history.

The south desperately needed a "Michael Sam" and a "Mizzou" to break the chains of bigotry.

Since we made that happen...you're welcome!

Happy Mothers Day

We let Texas A&M in, that should've been our one contribution to gays, then Michael Sam happens

Just give us some time to process all of this

Yep, Mizzou is dragging the SEC, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century.

I just wish everyone would shut up, deal with their own balls of shite, and live & let live.
ESPN, Michael Sam, anti-/pro-gay folks, etc. included.
If you're a great football player, a decent human, and want to play ball, who cares what floats your boat?
God knows I don't.
Take care of your neighbor.
The end.

If this is what you want, then you shouldn't be making a big deal out of it either way.

If the media, gay right activists, and anyone else wants openly gay people to be accepted without any exceptions - then making such a huge deal out of it is counter-productive.

Why are people who support him continue to refer to him as "Michael Sam, the gay guy", instead of "Michael Sam".

If there's an agenda, say so. Otherwise, it's pretty pointless.

Keep telling yourself that. We get it, everybody that's not a fan of watching 2 guys make out while rubbing cake in each other's faces is a homophobe.

You know, I agree with your sentiment (in some respects), but this is a load of horse shite. For Mizzou to support him, that's great, but it's not like you're the fricking ones who made this "bold new step."

frick off. Mizzou didn't break shite.

It's not that some of us are anti-gay, some of us are just tired of having shite shoved down our throats on both sides. I get tired of hearing shite from both sides of the argument

There is something to this. How many Sam-related threads have we had this weekend? Probably around 20 across all boards. Go peruse sites frequented by fans from other conferences and they're barely talking about it. Part of it might be that Sam was an SEC player but part of it is definitely homophobia.

There is NOTHING wrong with him being gay.

There is EVERYTHING wrong with him getting biased attention over straight guys because of it.

How is that equality?

Good point. Somewhere at ESPN there's a fat man reading the Rant while he slowly massages his nipples.
