becuase they are Texas A&M.
I actually expect them to have a decent to strong season and create some expectations for 2017. Then with the spotlight on Aggies will do what Aggies do. Melt under pressure.

Is it scary that even though Knight did beat Alabama he still couldn't keep his job?
No it isn't scary.
1) OU brought in a new offensive coordinator that changed the scheme to the one the Mayfield ran at Texas Tech.
2) Knight was recovering from an injury.
3) It was tight competition until the end.
4) Mayfield is on the Heisman watch list. You LSU fans don't say that Guice is garbage cause he can't beat out Fournette. What type of flawed logic has you thinking differently about Knight?

Jesus. Guice got 50 carries last year behind our best RB of all time. Knight played half a season as a true freshman and then started an entire season and put up stats eerily similar to Brandon Harris, a QB all a&m fans are always quick to point out how terrible he is. We have a massive sample size on Knight. And now he's playing in a league with far superior defensive talent and an inexperienced o-line.
Whether you admit it or not, a returning starter at QB entering his 4th year with a program that loses his position before the season starts Is not a good sign for that QB. If this were any other team's scenario you'd be saying the exact same thing

Since according to your logic certain players are only good against certain conferences, Knight must be one of those who is good vs the SEC, right? I mean he has a whole game as a sample size vs Mayfield with three quarters

Got some NFL talent in the secondary as well. Man the west is gonna be brutal this year. I could see multiple teams beat others to make the division race wild as hell. I agree with op though. A&m is gettin overlooked and probably will be better than the last few years when all the national pundits were talking a&m up big time

You guys do this so much. You take something you think someone said and then state something you are wrongly assuming as though it is a fact.
You said Mayfield would be the best qb in the SEC. I strongly disagreed as would just about every other sane SEC fan that doesn't root for Texas A&M. Would he be awful? Probably not. But it's nor farfetched to say he wouldn't be nearly as good as he is in the Big 12 going against tougher SEC defenses every week, as was witnessed in the Tennessee game.
Knight played in 8 games as a red shirt freshman and started 10 as a sophomore. He saw limited action in 6 more games last season. He played against the same teams as Mayfield and was far worse. I am saying if both played in the SEC they would not fare as well as they have/would in the Big 12. Anytime any Texas fans says anything you Aggies scream SEC and bemoan the Big 12 about how bad it is. But when it fits your narrative now for some reason Big 12 defenses are just as good as the SEC and a good indicator of future performance against better defenses.
If Knight had transferred to Texas for example, you would be the first one saying exactly what I am.

So do we get to exclude Knight's games against the Big 12 and only evaluate him against the SEC? Oh now only stats against the Big 12 matter? You can cherry pick whatever stats you want to fit your argument, Mayfield is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and that's almost universally accepted among those who follow college football. I said in my first post Knight is a question mark, but there is no shame in getting beat out by an All American and Heisman candidate
