Know Coker was a bit older when he finally got a starting job, but I'd take Coker. Stronger arm, tough runner, thick skin.

Bama won because of Coker. Bama is winning despite Hurts.

Depends on the rest of the offense. shite OL? Hurts is better at avoiding pressure. Pro-style? Coker is a better passer.

etc.

first yr starter would be hurts ... he can run when he's in trouble ... that's a no brainer ... coker's not a dual threat and would be getting hammered ... long term, coker ...

Hurts is an elite athlete and will be better at executing your offense.

Both are tough and durable.

Hurts plays the next play after any mistake.

He reminds me of nick Marshall as far as confidence, coolness, and just the ability to make a play out of nothing.

Hurts has the chance to improve his accuracy. He is probably use to throwing to receivers rather than to grass.

Coker, Hurts is a liability and will cost bama the championship this year.

Jake Coker started for the first time at 23 years old. Hurts turned 18 in August. Coker had a great playoff run, but was mediocre most of the regular season. Hurst has been mediocre most of the regular season, we'll see what type of playoff run he has.

You wish.

Coker is the right answer, but it's a stupid premise. Of course a fifth-year senior is going to make fewer mistakes than a true freshman. A year from now it won't be a discussion in the other direction.

Man, the Rant talked so much shite about Coker last year. He showed out in the playoffs though.

I can't disagree. Coker won me over and is one of my all time favorites.

edit: I expect Hurts to surpass Coker in that regard though. But he isn't there yet. But he will be.

Such a tough question considering both will be NCAA champions.

Coker was one of my favorite Alabama QBs. Not an NFL-type talent, but just a tough SOB that never gave up.

Not entirely the truth. Coker had experience but not by that much. Hurts plays like a very talented true freshman...bottom line

He has a Derek Henry type back there now except Scarborough has better lateral moves to me. We just don't use him.
