I disagree with this blog that says Nebraska and Colorado were losers. Nebraska is a perfect fit for the Big 10 and Colorado is not relevant to matter where they are.

winners and losers

As far as the SEC being the clear winner, I can say with honesty that, at the time, I was not a proponent of bringing in Mizzou or Texas A&m, however, they have proven to be viable commodities and helped make the SEC Network happen.

Realignment Winners & Losers

Basically the SEC won Realignment (The money alone made it worth it)

Other winners were Louisville, TCU, Missouri, Texas A&M, Utah, and Rutgers

Losers:

Big 12 (Geographically they shrunk. Recruitment has taken a little dive. Future TV revenue is in doubt. )I still don't know why they didn't take Louisville.
West Virginia (On an Island basically)
Nebraska (Lost its recruiting grounds and rivalries)
The Big East (Now dead in football)
Colorado (Mr irrelevant in everything)
Rivalries

I don't know what to make of Nebraska's move, except that I know they did the right thing. I disagree that their program is any less visible then before, because it had already diminished before the move. Also, since almost all their glory years were in the Big 8, I think the author may be thinking recruiting losses in Texas will hurt them more then they will.

TCU....with that offense they'd compete in the Big 12 for years to come. Really no good defensive teams in Big 12.

The Bug Eaters had to make the move. And the SEC wasn't an option for them.

So I'm sure they're in a better place than they were. But compared to other teams that made a move, they are at least in the second tier. It's hard to see them as a huge national player in the long term, but shifts happen all the time.

I sure do think we came out quite well.

I know some folks weren't big on expansion and I understand, but we are finally where we should have been all along. In a way you have to see that.

I think the SEC is clearly the conference winner with A&M and Missouri clearly the winners among the teams.

WVA and Nebraska appear to be the biggest losers teamwise and there's no doubt that the Big-12 easily took the biggest fall among the P-5 conferences.

Texas by far suffered the most in terms of lost prestige and respect. The nation now sees what an arrogant, greedy bunch of delusional pricks they are.

A&M came out even. Exchanged Texas and OU as big brothers for LSU and Bama.

NU's problem has been coaching. No conference can change that.

I'd throw WVA, and all members of the Big 12 not named Texas and Oklahoma in the winner pile. Those guys are worthless by themselves, and probably will be in a league with Memphis in 10 years.

Biggest loser overall - Nebraska. They're still junior members of the Big X.

Biggest winner overall - Mizzou. Full status members of the SEC from day one. Now rolling in money.

Loser's

Some LSU fans because A&M has become permanent residents in their head

Nebraska. Because they lost the Texas recruiting pipeline.

Winner's

Missouri. Took Nebraska's Texas recruiting pipeline.

Texas A&M. Escaped

no way is the Pac12 network a loser

ACC will really be a big winner when and if Notre Dame is forced to be available for a conf championship game...

They STILL don't have DirecTV as a carrier after 4 years and are only on the sports package in non-PAC 12 states. That's not winning.

Colorado's program went to crap after they hired chicks to have sex with recruits, hold parties and get them drunk, give them drugs, etc. Then they made some coaching changes and made a terrible hire and a bad hire after him and are still paying for both of those coaches while paying their current coach.

They have a long ways to go to return to being a competitive football program.

Bo Pelini ended up at the FCS level. If you don't know why, then you don't pay attention to much outside of the SEC...lol.

So far it is. However, the TV networks is just one of the many revenue streams for conferences.

I don't remember off the top which conference makes the second most money, but I know the B1G is the richest conference.
