If Alabama reeled in Urban Meyer post-Saban, college football could not handle the melt that would ensue.

Meyer will never be at Bama.
Meyer couldn't handle the pressure at UF, he certainly couldn't handle following Nick Saban at Bama.
John Cooper won about 25% of his bowl games and 20% of his games against Michigan, when he was coaching Ohio State. Cooper was at OSU for 13 years. Any school that tolerates such poor performance in bowls and against its top rival is not a high pressure environment.
Meyer is where he needs to be.

Why would he retire now? He has a elite team that could win the next couple years.

When Saban retires the NCAA will discontinue the sport. Nick has won the game of football.

With another NC this year is Saban done at Bama. Who takes over? Who are the hot coaches that could step in and keep things going?
Same guy as every year, Nick Saban.

Bama and Clemson will play another tightly-contested all-time classic championship game with Bama pulling it out late. After the trophy presentation, the Pope will come out from the locker room and ceremoniously pass the crown from Saban to Dabo.
This is if Saban chooses to retire, of course. Don't think he will. Not yet.

I hate to say I have sauces but I do....those very close to the Dabo camp. Lets just say, he will be heading to Tuscaloosa as soon as Saban gives the green light. I personally can't wait

I was just asking who could take over. Bama fans are a sensitive bunch. Who would want to take over after one of the most dominant coaches of this era?
I'd hate to try and follow him personally.

Saban is the type who will coach until he dies.
I think Lane will succeed him, assuming he gets the Houston job (or another HC job) and doesn't shite himself.

Saban isn't done after this year. He has said multiple times that he will continue to coach as long as he is good at it, having a good time, and healthy.
Last I checked, he is all of the above.
Also, based on what I have been told by someone who is good friend with Nick's wife, Terry, he still wants to keep coaching for 6 or 7 years.

Lots of coaches say one thing and do another. Spurrier just up and quit on UF with no forwarning just to name one.
Saban is in great health and has complete control of college football. His mind is plenty sharp and he is showing no signs of slowing down. Which sucks for everyone else.
