I'd probably go with

1. Lamar Jackson (Louisville)
2. Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma)
3. Jabrill Peppers (Michigan)
4. Jonathan Allen (Alabama)

The only 2 offensive players who really should even be considered are Jackson and Mayfield. Maybe Mahomes, but he throws a bunch of INTs and also throws the ball 60 times a game (along with tons of basically extended run throws, the kind that a lot of people fault Jalen Hurts for).

Peppers should win, but I think it's still Jackson's to lose. Maybe last night changed that though. Tbh Allen and Peppers are the most deserving imo.

I don't quite understand how all of a sudden Lamar Jackson is done because his team got killed last night. He had 240 total yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs and was running for his life on EVERY snap.

I didn't think he played badly at all, really.

Because we're a knee-jerk, emotional, reactionary society these days.

Next week if he puts up 5 TDs he'll be #1 again.

Lol @ people faulting Jackson because his team has 2 losses.

Tebow had 5 losses and won the Heisman. Jackson is the most deserving at this point in time.

I think the one who has a shot to unseat him is Mayfield. Oklahoma has 2 big showcase games left against West Virginia and (if they win that one) against Oklahoma State the week of the Championship games.

If Mayfield goes big this weekend then he will have a huge stage, perhaps with his team clinging to playoff life, in a week when Jackson is sitting at home.

Mixture of things

(1) he's a great defensive player
(2) he returns kicks and punts, which always adds shine to a guy
(3) he plays tons of positions, both on defense and he plays on offense - that stuff always gives a guy a boost, even if he doesn't do a "ton" on that side

Honestly Baker Mayfield's stats are better than Jackson's to me.

Mayfield completes 15% more of his passes on a HIGHER Yards Per Attempt, a very elite 10.9. Think about that. 72% completion percentage with 10.9 YPA is insane. Luke Falk of WSU has a better completion percentage, but a very measly 7.5 YPA.

On 3 less attempts per game, Mayfield has 5 more TDs and only 1 more INT.

Yes, Jackson's numbers as a runner are eye popping. HUGE advantage over Mayfield there, but I honestly think Mayfield's passing numbers have the bigger edge. He is WAY more efficient AND played better against a common opponent in Houston.
