Using statistics from the following site...

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sec/

I have compiled the following statistics from 1956 (the first year this site breaks down the individual rushing statistics per year on the site) to the present.

How many times has an SEC school ended the year with the conferences leading rusher?

Alabama - 10
Auburn - 10
Florida - 8
Georgia - 7
LSU - 6
Tennessee - 6
Kentucky - 3
Arkansas - 2
Ole Miss - 2
Mississippi State - 2
Texas A&M - 1
Tulane - 1
Vandy - 1

How many 1000 yard rushers has an SEC school had in this same period?

Auburn - 24
Alabama - 18
Tennessee - 17
LSU - 15
Georgia - 14
Arkansas - 13
Mississippi State - 12
Florida - 10
Kentucky - 8
Vandy - 5
Ole Miss - 4
South Carolina - 4
Missouri - 3
Texas A&M - 1

UGA likes to style itself "Running Back U" when, in fact, at least 4 other SEC schools (Auburn, Bama, Tennessee, and LSU) have better, more convincing, arguments.

UGA has one legendary running back ever (Chubb could end up being one.) Auburn has at least 3.

Clearly Auburn, IMHO.

what exactly makes those arguments more convincing? With LSU for instance, they have 1 (wow a whole 1!) more 1000 yard rusher, but have less league leaders. Why do you give more merit to one over another?

Also, those numbers are far too generic. I'm using a hypothetical here but it illustrates my point. What if all 17 of UT's 1K yard rushers rushed for between 1K and 1200 yards...but all 14 of UGA's all rushed for more than 1,700? The numbers as you listed would be correct, but in this example UGA's would be far more impressive.

Please, let's hear AU's 3. We have one "legendary" that is the GOAT, but we also have quite a few really, really good ones as well.

Does that take stats from the conferences the expansion schools were in? Because if not this is full potato.

LSU and 'Bama typically have multiple RB's. Auburn and Georgia typically have one really good RB that they ride. Auburn would win this battle almost every year.

because 1956 is so relevant to today's game

It is when discussing who Running Back U is from a past-to-present perspective.

Just looked, it doesn't. So in 23 years Arkansas has had 13 1000 yard rushers as compared to 14, 15, 17, 18, and 24 in 60 years for everyone in front of them. Arkansas is on pace to have triple the amount of anyone on that list in that timeframe.

The answer is Arkansas.

Bo Jackson (GOAT athlete)

Carnell Williams (thUGA killer)

James Brooks (4 time pro bowl)

Yes I'm interested in this as well. I'm sure they'll list someone like joe cribbs or something as being "legendary", ignoring the fact that UGA has similar players as well.

Carnell Williams

Let me get this straight.

YOu think carnell, who in 1 more season and 200+ more carries only amassed 600 more yards than gurley and had less YPC (remember that's what AU fans always point to in teh herschel/bo debates), is "legendary"? If he is, then so is gurley. And so are about 5 or 6 others that we can claim.
