Arky or UT? Both are at the stage where potential, building, getting better etc aren't going to trump results anymore. It's year 3 for both coaches and it's time to win. Which programs trajectory would be damaged more by a poor/mediocre season?

I think the answer is UT. Recruiting seems to be the one thing they have going for them and I don't see Jones being able to sell "we're still building" much longer. Birkenstock, to me, is a better game day coach and has a system that he doesn't neccesarily need 4/5 star players to win with.

FWIW, I think UT will have the better team and season next year.

UT because of fan expectations. They have too much talent to not win nine games at least.

Truthfully, neither of them will have a valid excuse if their teams don't win at least 9.

UT because Butch isn't a proven coach like Bielema.

Tenn.

Based on Arky's recruiting if they do well they overachieved. If Tenn DOESN'T do well Butch takes the talent waster title from Sumlin.

UT needs a title yesterday.

I think all of our perspectives on what their expectations were/should be are skewed by the fact they haven't done shite worth mentioning in 8+ years.

Arky has not been doing anything different than what they've always done since 92.

I'm agree. The excuses are over. Time for results. Neither guy can hide behind a rebuild anymore. It's year 3 and they both supposedly have it heading in the right direction. Time for results.

Keep in mind that Dan Mullen took over for Sylvester Croom and won nine games in 2010, a season that saw five of the six SEC West squads finish in the AP top fifteen.

Yet these Hogs and VOLS continue to pour on the excuses

Please, 5 of Mullen's wins that year were 4 terrible non cons and Kentucky.

And look at their schedule outside of Alabama/Arkansas/AU/LSU. No excuse not to win 9 games.

Memphis (1-11) W
#1 Auburn (14-0) L
@ #8 LSU (11-2) L
Georgia (6-7) W
Alcorn State (FCS) W
Houston (5-7) W
@ Florida (8-5) W
UAB (4-8) W
Kentucky (6-7) W
@ #10 Alabama (10-3) L
#12 Arkansas (10-3) L
@ Ole Miss (4-8) W
vs Michigan (7-6) W

So you're punishing the team for losing to four top ten teams?

Man I am zapped from finals. I have four more left, unfortunately.

Don't question the method

They played 4 good teams and lost all 4 games. Their best win was over 8-5 Florida and we got smashed by Christian Ponder.
