I undoubtedly believe Alabamans to be more redneck than tennesseans. I've lived in Nashville most of my life, so it's a bit different. Alabama doesn't have a city like nashville, or even Memphis, to take away some of the hick stereotype.
Birmingham maybe, but it's just a smaller, shittier Nashville wannabe without the music.
Louisiana at least has south LA, which isn't redneck at all. Coonass/Cajun is much different. Central and northern LA is basically the same as Alabama. Just kinda shitty overall.
Georgia has Atlanta.
I'd say Alabama and Mississippi are viewed in the same light, in my experience, as the southern redneck states without much to attract outsiders.
But both have beautiful beaches, although I'm certain most of the country doesn't even realize that.
Arkansas is similar to TN in that I feel like many people view it as an outdoorsman's state, with its mountains and lakes. Still redneck though too.
SC has beautiful beaches as well and Charleston sleaks for itself. Basically AL and MS are the worst southern states. I think most would agree. There's just not much to draw folks there.

First I ever heard of it was one of the Britt boys during AU's 6 game run.

Not just for 9 straight years....try 40 years at least that I have known bammers. They either have run out of time, officiating is bad, turned the ball over (they are the only team that seems to do this), And last but not least, Every other team's fans are crybabies and whiners when Bama beats them.
This is the truth.
You can tell how young the posters are on this board by the very creation of this thread. They have no clue what Alabama fans are really like.
This is not only the golden years for Alabama fans but also the golden years for everyone's annoyance tolerance. There is nothing worse than a woman scorned and a Bama fanbase trying to support a mediocre product. It's why Finebaum exploded onto the scene. His career grew up in a time of angry Bama fans who felt that everything in the world (except the actual performance of their football team) was holding them down. No one ever actually "beat" Alabama not only because of whatever excuse they could come up with but because your win didn't really mean anything as they were just going to resume beating you next year.
Unfortunately, Saban's made their delusions come true.

The point is that most folks view Alabama fans as more white trash/southern/redneck than other fans. Mississippi would be close, but OM is associated with faux class. Whatever other southerners think is irrelevant. I was specifically speaking to other areas of the country. You can deny it all you want, but it's 100% true. Your fan base has a bad rep, period, fair or not.
You just don't know what you're taking about if you really think the rest of the country distinguishes University of Alabama fans as the embodiment of rednecks, above other groups. I haven't lived in the south in well over a decade, and I probably never will again. I can unequivocally say that the types of people who tend to stereotype southerners do so across the entire region. If you really think that you, a fricking LSU fan living in Tennessee would command any kind of respect from those types of people as being anything other than a backwoods redneck you are sadly mistaken.

I'm sorry my opinion, which is in line with most others, upsets you.
Just google "reputation of alabama fans" or google image "alabama fans" or "alabama fans meme"
then cross reference that with some of the other state schools you mentioned. Many people don't view your state or fan base in high regard.
Here's 1 of about 1000

I quite literally travel the entire country for my job. I've lived in half a dozen cities. I wasn't asking for an opinion; I was simply giving you my accurate observation.

Of course, as a region. We are discussing fandom, though. Alabama fans, inside and outside of Alabama, have a terrible reputation.

I'm from New Orleans and grew up in Nashville. I don't think most people I deal with consider me a redneck. If so, that's perfectly fine. But I do know they respect me, because most of them give me money.

If you get your Alabama media guide and scroll through the past schedules youll see the opponents, date game was played and the score. If you look at every Alabama loss youll see an asterics ( * ). It will say"Alabama beat themselves), could be a turnover, missed fg or my favorite of them all " time ran out" .

If you are from New Orleans, then you are just viewed as a piece of shite. Sorry, that's how most view New Orleans people.
And no I am not from Alabama. I wear jorts.

While I don't agree, I respect your incorrect opinion.
I know some good folks from Florida. They are kind of weird, and don't really fit in, but good people nonetheless.
I suspect you fit in impeccably with your fellow Bama fans though.

Each state without question varies culturally. To say otherwise is offensive. How dare you lump me in with Alabamians.

The very fact that you "lump" individuals into any category according to the state they happen to be from is a perfect reflection of your intelligence...like I said, you're an idiot.

The fact that you clearly choose to ignore the very real cultural differences from state to state is telling. Not of your intelligence, but likely your willful ignorance. I can't say I blame you. I mean, you are from Alabama.
