Experience was mixed; I think the folks at Bristol took a NASCAR approach to the event and that doesn't really work with college football.
Parking was horrible. We bought parking passes through the track, and our "parking lot" was actually one of the campgrounds, with lots of hills. There were areas that had big signs that read "Do not park here; cars will slide if it rains." Also, the seating was divided east and west halves of the bowl. Parking was divided north and south. We parked south of the track and our seats were on the north side. Instead of splitting tickets 50/50 from goalpost to goalpost, they should have done it from the 50 yard line, so your tickets where as close as possible to where you parked.
Watching the game was a pain in the arse. We were so far away (Kulwicki Terrace) that you really couldn't see the ball. The big TVs were nice, but instead of using the ESPN/ABC feed, they were using an in house feed that was lagging behind, and seemed more interested in showing the crowd than the action on the field. Sound was also really bad until the start of the second half.
The pageantry surrounding the game was great, and all of the Speedway Motorsports tracks (Bristol, Charlotte, Atlanta, etc.) know how to do that kind of thing. A great National Anthem performance that included a card stunt that created a big American flag and USA lettering in the stands and a flyover of a B-52 or some other huge Air Force plane. Halftime included Lee Greenwood singing God Bless the USA and a ton of fireworks launching from the top of the stands.

My buddy has a relative there who was camping after the game. He was stabbed while some white trash idiot tried to rob him. Ended up in the hospital. Keep it classy Tennessee.

Just as easily could've been a VA tech fan that stabbed him assmunch

Because they caught the guy and he was from Tennessee.
ETA: Looking at 3rd degree murder charges. The stab wound was centimeters away from an artery. He's lucky to be alive.

We rode up on charter busses provided by my company so we didn't have to worry about parking or anything like that.
The traffic was terrible and the views were far from the greatest if you didn't have a good section (luckily we did) -- Other than that we had an amazing time. That was the funnest tailgate experience of my life and I've been to more than I can count. I was really surprised at how much Tennessee fans out numbered Virginia Tech fans. It was every bit of 65/35 to 70/30 in Tennessee's favor.
Over all one of the best game experiences that I have ever had. The Stadium was completely sold out FWIW and there were still thousands of people outside the stadium that were watching on TV's and continuing to party. It was wild

Tennessee trying to become relevant again and pulls a gimmick
Texas trying to become relevant again and pulls a gimmick

My only real complaint was that we didn't leave earlier to get inside the stadium. We must have been in line between 45-min. to an hour just to get inside our gate (Kulwicki Terrace).
Tailgating was good before the game, we were fortunate to have some shade because the sun was pretty hot that day. 20 min. hike to where we parked, not too bad.

Out of over 250,000 people there were only 19 arrests and only 2 were serious. So, frick you.
As for my experience it was awesome. Camped out Thursday-Sunday. Had some very cool VT neighbors. Yelled "it's Bristol, Baby" and high fived hundreds that walked by the tailgate we attended before the game. Enjoyed a Prime Rib dinner at the hospitality tent on the field before the game and then slapped the pads of the players as they walked through the tent on the way to the field. Then walked to our seats on the field and got to meet and shake hands with Frank Beamer. Other than that, it sucked
As for attendance, it was 156,990. At least 100,000 outside in RVs didn't even go in.

Tennessee doesn't have third degree murder. We have first degree murder, second degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, and criminally negligent homcide.
