I feel like here he has a bad reputation on this site, and whether it is justified or not, I personally have no idea. So not a flame thread, just curious who here really listens to him and values his opinion, or on the other side who wipes their arse with his opinion and flushes it away. TIA

I used to listen every now and then when I lived in auburn. It's good for comedy and that's about it.

Finebaum is the Jerry Springer of radio. Hes made his name/show on exploiting the lowest common denominator and being as outrageous as he possibly can be

I'm not hating. Kudos to him for finding something that works, but it's low budget reality TV. Some people like this type of stuff, I personally do not.

I do wish like hell it wasn't on the SEC network though. It really doesn't have a place there.

I feel like the few times I have listened into the show or watched it on SECn it's just built around crazies calling in for the entertainment value, but i have never really gotten any real valuable information from his show

He is like PCP for Bama fans. They listen to him and then think they are Superman and can do anything. Pretty fricking hilarious!!

I don't mind Paul.

But listening to people call in makes me want to blow my pumpkin head off.

I sure as hell don't value his opinion, but I do listen to him occasionally because when sports talk radio in Chicago actually mentions some college football, the discussions are so misinformed and ignorant, they might as well be talking about cricket.

Ironically, one show has Gerry DiNardo on for a segment every week and that's probably the most in-depth college football talk you'll get.

Finebaum is OK but I hate all his dumb arse callers. I DVR the show and jump through it for interviews of interest. Paul is about a mile up Nicky's arse but he has some smarts.

This. Paul when he is serious is good radio. The callers and Paul trolling are crap. He has had some good hard voting interviews though.

1. He is utterly ignorant about the mechanics of any sport played in the SEC especially football.

2. He knows lots about SEC sports history and knows many leading SEC sports figures.

3. He is an excellent interviewer and I really enjoy listening to him interview all kinds of sports figures/pundits.

4. His feature callers are TERRIBLE and make SEC fans look ignorant in every way. When a caller gets on, I mute it.

I agree, many of his interviews have some good content. However, he has a way of framing questions sometimes to get responses that can be sensationalized.

The two most recent examples I can think of are the Bobby Bowden and Jacob Hester interviews. He replayed the Bowden interview for 2 days for his comments about Jameis, even though Bowden only offered his opinion of what the fans thought. And he gently coaxed Hester into saying Les could be on the hot seat soon, which sent the Tiger Rant into a bitch fest.

I'm not criticizing Finebaum for doing that; he's supposed to be an entertainer. And as with most entertainers in his line of work, he'll do anything to generate more listeners and callers.
