There is a difference. It's pretty hard to anthropomorphize a Crimson Tide. Ole Miss used to have a "Rebel" mascot that they discontinued.

How that colonel is racist.....that's just stupid. We have become so sensitive in this country. We celebrate Ali even with his anti American and anti white stances but we can't have a cartoon colonel on a helmet because it offends someone. If I just offended someone too bad.

I don't want to give them any ideas..but you could say some bullshite like the white Sanders traditional Old Southern garb and mannerisms and authoritative title, selling a product that is well known as a hurtful stereotype, reinforces a plantation mentality and conjures up iconography that is very insensitive to certain oppressed classes
