I'm just curious as to what sort of talent never really had much tournament success.

For Arkansas:

1. Joe Johnson
2. Alvin Robertson
3. Bobby Portis
4. Darrell Walker
5. Andrew Lang

Those are definitely our two most talented players that never made a final four.

I'm not going to work on a list of 5, but Alex English would probably be at the top of the list.

Exactly - NBA career wise at least. Guys like Buck Johnson would be on there if it was solely collegiate career.

But yea, joke is we haven't ever been to a Final Four.

In no particular order:

1. John Wall
2. Demarcus Cousins (both came just short with an Elite Eight)
3. Jodie Meeks
4. Keith Bogans (another Elite Eight guy)
5. Rajon Rondo

*While Jamal Mashburn made it to a Final Four, the guy was championship worthy and I wish he could've gotten one while he was at UK.

ETA: And if Final Four is the criteria, you can essentially include a lot of guys in Tubby's era after the class that participated in the 1998 NC.

How about Dan Issel? Did UK make the Final Four while he was playing?

I was thinking he made a Final Four. You're right though, he only made it to the Elite Eight as a player. So he'd definitely be on the list.

Kentucky makes the Final Four every year so this thread doesn't apply to us.

Remember seeing him play in Baton Rouge when UK played against Maravich's team. He was impressive.

I think you would have to put Jeff Malone in there somewhere. Plus, when Bailey Howell was there, the NIT was actually a bigger deal than the NCAA.
