Their problems are the hirings of underwhelming coaches (similar to Tennessee). That's the only reason they're having their downturn. If they opened up their wallets instead of being so conservative and went after a great coach, they'd turn around on a dime. That's why I won't remove their blueblood badge.

Tennessee has lost it already. Nebraska is in danger of losing it.

UF had a season as recently as 1979 where it won no games at all.

UF went 53 years with no conference crowns and when it did win one, it was vacated.

Why would you rant against the Vols on the subject of Blue Bloods?

When did I say UF was a blue blood? It's not.

Agreed. You simply can't be down for 15 years and still be considered a Blue Blood.....or you should at LEAST be showing signs of coming back to prominence. neither program has shown that to this point.

No it is not.

But like a typical sorta kinda pathetic Gator fan, you just can't leave your UT envy alone.

I don't care what their problems are. Nebraska has been down for 15 years and they show absolutely no signs of correcting the slide. I didn't list Tennessee as a Blue Blood, but if I had, I would have put them in danger of losing their Blue Blood status. however, they are at least showing some signs of returning to prominence.....this year will be huge for Tennessee as far as perception is concerned.

I understand your reasoning, but are they showing any signs of doing that? From what I see.....no. They are almost embracing their mediocrity.

Some will argue the Florida State, LSU & Florida

Plus Georgia & Auburn and that's your top 15
Those aren't blue bloods.

Nebraska is not close enough to talent rich areas.

Kids don't remember Nebraska being good. Their current"brand" is a team on the plains that wins 8-9 games a season and gets blown out in big games

There is nothing scary or impressive about Nebraska anymore. The "aura" of NU may have been destroyed in 2001, but the holes had appeared before then.

Its hard to recruit to Nebraska

Nebraska is a blublood.

Miami is not though. Nor is UF or FSU.

No because you'd have to knock off USC and Texas as well. There isn't a team in jeopardy of losing blue blood status yet.

Bingo. And the fire department hasn't showed up yet.

I really think the odds are better than 50% that Strong isn't the HC there next season.

You haven't been paying attention this offseason. Strong will turn this team around this year, way more than the average CFB fan ever thought.

It's always been these 8 on the other boards I post on. The general guidelines are at least 800 wins and a 70% win percentage.

Alabama
Michigan
Nebraska
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Texas
USC

I believe Nebraska is now below 70% though.

Nonsense. You're a Missouri fan and you thought you were a rival of theirs for years. You're just throwing shade. Kid these days don't remember Michigan being any good either and look what a splashy coaching hire did for them.

Some people have a lot of recency bias. Miami and FSU are not blue bloods. They've only even had programs since 1925 and 1947 respectively.

FSU was 0-11 before Bowden took over. Miami almost shut down the team in the 70s. Even if FSU may be a decade away from blue blood status Miami is not.

Solid list. Think Nebraska could probably be added...they've dropped a bit since Osborne retired but their school win total and number of championships should probably put them on the same tier as the schools you have listed...
