Can't go wrong with this list

They should have put more weight into national championships IMHO but here is a good idea of the Bluebloods

Perhaps I listed Tennessee in the wrong category. I had them in the post-war category, but I guess maybe they emerged earlier than that.

Good on anyone who can admit they might be wrong.

The '40s and '50s, especially the late '50's were not so good for the Vols.

I ran the numbers for UT/Bammer since 1930. Even with Bammer's vacated games they have overborne the Vols.

The '40's and '50s not good for the Vols, the '60s and '70s very good for Bammer.

Even with vacated games

Bama Tenn
1930's 79 83

1940's 66 67

1950's 50 72

1960's 90 67

1970's 103 75

1980's 85 78

1990's 83 98

2000-09 58 83

2010-15 72 38
686 661

It formats crappy but I guess it is readable.

that's a pretty good stab at it, but Jawja should have jumped into status in early to mid 40's & lost it mid 60's

Yup. That list would tend to drop the list to 7, considering the gap Texas trails in 8th.

Honestly we only let them in the club due to all the whining. Ask any aggie fan, nothing whines worse than a horn fan when you point out how great they aren't.

Nebraska doesn't lose their blueblood status simply for being in a downturn cycle just like OU, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, USC and all of the other Bluebloods have in recent memory. Sorry Charlie.

Here's a good list of who is a blueblood, and who is a second tier (baby)blueblood. Penn State isn't a tier 1 blueblood either folks.

LINK

Nebraska
Texas
Alabama
Michigan
USC
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Oklahoma

There you have it.

Good link. I'd have Nebraska at 7 and Texas 8.

Tennessee has lost it already. Nebraska is in danger of losing it.

It is a good link I agree. All blueblood programs have gone through downturns when replacing legendary coaches. All of them. Because replacing legendary coaches isn't easy to do. That's what Nebraska is going through now, and what Michigan went through as well as OU, Texas, Notre Dame, USC, and Bama with Bear Bryant, as well as everybody else. It is what it is.

It amazes me the decline of Nebraska football over the last 20 years. Drummed people in '95 now they struggle to get get 7 or 8 wins. I think games being played on TV played a big part in that. Just about any game is televised weekly now.

Incompetent hiring decisions is the only problem Nebraska has.

Coaching hires that didn't understand how things must work at Nebraska to be successful. Killing the walkon program was the first big mistake that Callahan had. And the continued abandonment of their "500 mile radius" for recruiting has only weakened the roster. You have to bring that skill talent in from California, Texas, or Florida, but over half your roster can't be from outside your geographical footprint.

I don't see why not. There is a difference. Nebraska has not even been in contention for 15 years, and they are stepping back, not making progress. It would be different if they were showing some sign of progress. This is more than a temporary downturn. In the last 15 years they are averaging almost 5 losses a year. (4.6)

Agreed.

Nebraska has plenty to sell. Good school, great facilities, blue blood, huge rabid fanbase etc., The only thing holding Nebraska back is Nebraska. They need a splashy hire for a big time coach instead of all these discount coaches and their program will turn on a dime just like Michigan is now.
