But he fielded top 10 defenses at Wisconsin for multiple years before going to LSU

VADawg nailed it. Looks like some LSU fan is upset he didn't say Aranda.

Not sure he nailed it as that's subjective, but it was a solid thought out list which was the intent of the thread. Good info. It did take surprise me when I saw it had 20 downvotes. Ha. Pretty pathetic how lsu fans would do that, because one of their coaches wasn't mentioned. We have enough Aranda talk, so it was good to see others mentioned.

You're getting downvoted to hell because you're being a turd about it.

We know Clemson is good and we acknowledge it. The way you are talking makes it seem like Clemson never struggled on offense this year, when they absolutely did.

Ride the high of the national title but act like you've won big games before. You're currently acting like the child who is king of the hill for a day

1. Jeremy Pruitt. No matter where he goes, the defense gets better. In his first year at Georgia, he knocked 9 ppg off of the previous year. FSU defenses have been exponentially worse without him.

Treon Harris beat him twice.

If you are saying "Up and comers" then you have Aranda, Pruitt, Venables and Grantham likely

Grantham just took a pay cut to go from a CFP contender to Mississippi State. So no, I don't think he qualifies as an up and comer.

Eh FSU had a rough start to the year but they played pretty well at the end of the year and had the most sacks in CFB. Pruitt is good for sure and on my list though

I'm just going to do a list of best young "minds" on each side of the ball.

Offense:

Lane Kiffin
Lincoln Riley
Dan Enos
Jeff Scott/Tony Elliot (Clemson's Co-OC's)
ETA: Saw someone mention Tee Martin. He's doing good things at USC.

Defense:

Bud Foster
Derek Mason
Dave Aranda
Jeremy Pruitt

It's hard to say given the variables, but there is no doubt that Aranda is a damn fine DC.

I can't imagine a scenario where he's not some school's head coach in the next 2 years.

Dan Enos

Glad someone else mentioned him. Although he is going to need to build some more credit before he is going to get another head coaching gig. Some NFL teams inquired about him in the past couple of weeks but it looks like he is staying so that is a relief.

OC:

1. Kevin Wilson. Architect of arguably the best college offense of all time in 2008 Oklahoma

2. Lincoln Riley. How he got passed up in this round of head coaches is beyond me. The Stoops era was getting close to life support and this guy completely resurrected it with a bruising running game, a balanced passing attack and tempo.

3. Bobby Petrino. Yeah, he's a HC but make no mistake, he runs the offense at every coaching stop and aside from his one year experiment in Atlanta, it is always among the best in the country.

DC:

1. Jeremy Pruitt. No matter where he goes, the defense gets better. In his first year at Georgia, he knocked 9 ppg off of the previous year. FSU defenses have been exponentially worse without him.

2. Greg Schiano. He had hard nosed, tough defenses at Rutgers and Tampa Bay, and now he is running a defense with Urban's recruits. They should be outstanding next year.

3. Brent Venables. His defenses at Oklahoma were sometimes a disaster, but he has resurrected his career by building a monster at Clemson.

Nailed it.

This has been mostly a football discussion, except for a few trolls.
Informative. Thanks to all who have been participating.

Eh, no one said Bob Stitt.

Definite lack of football knowledge on this board. (LSU effect?)

If anyone disagrees, google him, then explain to me how any OC anyone has named is better.

I guess you have the argument that he is a head coach and the playcaller, but whatever.
