I'm not interested in homer picks. And, I'm not looking for anyone to name anyone in particular. I would really like to know what the SEC Rant legitimately thinks.

Name the top 3 OC's and top 3 DC's.

The main reason that I am asking is because I'm wondering who the up and coming head coaches might be out of the coordinator ranks. I don't pay as close attention to this as I should and I'm wondering who the best ones are.

Thanks.

In no order

DC:
Dave Aranda - LSU
Jeremy Pruitt - Alabama
Brett Venables - Clemson

OC (less sure about this one):
Lincoln Riley - Oklahoma
Jeff Scott - Clemson
Tee Martin - USC

OC:

1. Kevin Wilson. Architect of arguably the best college offense of all time in 2008 Oklahoma

2. Lincoln Riley. How he got passed up in this round of head coaches is beyond me. The Stoops era was getting close to life support and this guy completely resurrected it with a bruising running game, a balanced passing attack and tempo.

3. Bobby Petrino. Yeah, he's a HC but make no mistake, he runs the offense at every coaching stop and aside from his one year experiment in Atlanta, it is always among the best in the country.

DC:

1. Jeremy Pruitt. No matter where he goes, the defense gets better. In his first year at Georgia, he knocked 9 ppg off of the previous year. FSU defenses have been exponentially worse without him.

2. Greg Schiano. He had hard nosed, tough defenses at Rutgers and Tampa Bay, and now he is running a defense with Urban's recruits. They should be outstanding next year.

3. Brent Venables. His defenses at Oklahoma were sometimes a disaster, but he has resurrected his career by building a monster at Clemson.

Aranda has to be in every list. He just has to be. He made our defense stout as frick IN ONE YEAR. And he installed an entirely new scheme on top of that. He had top 5 defenses almost every year at Wisconsin. No way we hold on to him for longer than 2 years. We're gonna look back on it and kick ourselves for not pushing for Aranda as HC. He should have been seriously considered.

VADawg nailed it. Looks like some LSU fan is upset he didn't say Aranda.

He is a very good coach but it wasn't like you guys were fielding a bunch of scrubs before he showed up. He took an already talented roster and made them preform up to their capabilities. Great coach, but I'm not convinced a couple coaches in America couldn't have done the same.

Similar to being an OC or even DC at AL. You have a stacked roster. Get them to preform at their talent level and they will make you look fantastic.

What entirely new scheme did he implement this year? It didn't seem that different from a casual observers eyes.

So basically the coaches with the best talent?

We appreciate that you get it dog. You are nominated heretofore as LSU national spokesman, and to take office immediately without further delay.

You know your argument would hold some amount of validity if he hadn't done the same thing with a bunch of 3 and 2 stars at Wisconsin.

So why doesn't the same rule apply to Pruitt? Aranda's defenses have been great everywhere he's been as well. Pruitt has been at schools with elite talent on defense while Aranda had 2-3 stars at Wisconsin.

why did this get 8 downvotes. lol

you'd think OCs would get credit for putting up numbers against Alabama. this year we had 4 different WRs with 90 plus yards. lol
