The university, a smallish hospital, a bunch of attorneys to deal with alcohol-related infractions, and a few businesses that cater to students and retirees.
Oxford, MS is not a town of economic influence--at least not outside of the state of Mississippi.

Fayetteville itself really isn't, either, although we've launched several start ups lately. The start-up infrastructure here is incredible. People invent products all the time and know somebody at Walmart, and boom, millionaire.
But it at least offers the option of a 25 minute commute to some pretty solid corporate campuses. Proctor & Gamble keep a couple hundred people in an office building not far from where I work, just to service Walmart. There are a lot of marketing firms here, too. You can actually major in graphic design or apparel studies here and stay and get a good-paying job. Get an MBA here and you're set for life.

Another thing, if you decide you want "big city life" for a few years, you can do a lot worse than the contacts you can make working in NWA for a couple of years for some global companies. We have lots that bigger cities can offer, but we get to live in a college town and act like idiots.

For a city Nashville with ease but would have to live outside in the burbs. But in al honesty it would probably be Knoxville or outside of it. At least it is not flat and you can see the mountains from it. My family does so much in the Smokies, especially during the summer, hence why when we moved we kept our house in Asheville.
Outside of the conference go with the triangle area in ACC country. Google Fiber enough said.

lexington would be my second choice behind Nashville, but it's more of a 1a-1b

I'd lean towards Fayetteville, but I don't know how their public schools are rated.

There are a few private schools in the area if the public schools are not up to your standards.

Speaking on that sorta- a relative is majoring in supply chain management. I mean I'm old I suppose but when did that become a major? I think it's great but I didn't realize it existed.

When Saxon-Lit was canned, they had to replace it with something.

Hmmm, sometimes I appreciate the asinine so I shouldn't be too surprised by that.
