Which recent athletic accomplishment is greater? 09-15Alabama or 06-08Florida?

2009 - 2015 Bama = 4 NCs in football

2006 - 2008 UF = 4 NCs (2 in football & 2 in bball)

Bama's run is longer and still active, but 09-15 for this discussion. I don't think either feat has been accomplished by anyone else ever before.

-Which is more difficult/impressive?
-Which run will be replicated first?
-Which other semi-recent set of accomplishments can compare?

You have to give credit where credit is due. I'd rather have ours (I'm a Gump, after all), but the short spurt of dominance in the two biggest sports is impressive.

Bruce was Florida's daddy during those two NC years (really his entire time at UT) so i will have to cast my vote to Bama

UF's feat is less likely to happen again unless Arizona, Duke, NC, or Kansas develop football teams that can win the playoffs

Have to side with UF on this one. It's rare for a basketball and football program of the same school be ranked in the top 5 at the same time, much less win championships in both.

Interestingly in 06-07, they beat Ohio State in both their football and basketball championships. So it seems if not for Florida, another team still might have done it.

Tough to compare. Bama's run is impressive as hell, but the basketball/football titles simultaneously is incredibly difficult. It is an unprecedented accomplishment for an athletic department. Before UF, I believe the shortest duration between one school winning both titles was 10 years.

Teams like Ohio State, Michigan State, or Oklahoma could pull it off

Believe Texas won the national title in baseball and football in 05 if I'm not mistaken.

I'll say Bama because winning 4 in a 7 year span in unheard of. Most don't even have more than 3.

But that is not to say what Florida did isn't impressive. I'd kill for Bama to have that kind of success in basketball. Plus Florida is only the 2nd since that crazy UCLA run in the 70s to win back-to-back national championships (Duke doing it in 91-92).

Oklahoma will probably be the first team to make it to the final four in basketball and football.

I think Avery's legit.

There are rumors of a new arena.

With the university's insane expansion, we're trying to be like a Florida or Ohio State. Don't have the instate resources but we're drawing heavily on national brand and OOS.

Maybe we could have that kind of AD one day. A man can dream.

Who replaces Battle is just as, if not more, important than who follows Saban. I don't know enough about that to say who I want, but the BoT has my confidence in UA athletics.

I lean towards Alabama on this one because of the time frame. That being said holding both titles at once is pretty damn impressive.
