Where would Saban have chosen to go?

If Miles had not kept the wins coming, when Saban decided the NFL wasn't the right fit. If LSU had been looking to replace Miles at that moment in time.
I can already guess the overwhelming response from Bama fans, but they will inundate this thread regardless (melt, corndogs, rednecks, obsessed, coonasses,etc...). Water off a duck's back!
More interested in SEC fans at large views. He always speaks very warmly of his time in BR, as he should, given the opportunities it led to.
After all, he seems to believe it was he who "awakened a sleeping giant".
Let'er rip!

I don't think anyone thinks he would have gone anywhere but LSU if there was an opening. There wasn't, so he ended up at Bama.

Hmm...Top 3 all time program or ex wife he left voluntarily. Tough one.

I don't think that there is any question that he would have been back in BR. He had friends and fond memories there. Lucky for us that Les kept winning and there wasn't a spot. I understand your fan base's pain.

Your statement is indicative of the problem that currently infects the LSU athletic program.
You believe LSU is a top 5 program, it's not.
Nick knew the success he achieved at LSU was the programs max potential. It wasn't even up for consideration.
Also, your next coach will not be as successful as Les. You and the TAF will lament November 2015 for years to come as programs like Ole Miss become bored with beating you year end and year out.

LSU nation clearly in the midst of some soul-searching, I see. It's always darkest before the dawn.

Couldn't happen to a nicer fricking fanbase.

Actually, excited that the money men have reached the same conclusion, although years later than necessary. Looking forward to roles being reversed.
I have quite a few Bama friends, and they are never as condescending, insulting, superior, and insufferable as the majority of Bammers on this board. Maybe they just hide it well, but I don't think so.
Every year, the majority tell me the game they are most concerned with is LSU, with the occasional one saying Auburn. I guess they feel sorry for my little corndog arse.
When we would beat Bama, do you think I would use the occasion to belittle the victory? What purpose would that serve? This, to me, is what separates the poor souls who have so little to be proud about in life, that they use their team's win to rub the opponents' faces in it. Ultimately cheapening the perceived value of the win. They render their opinions irrelevant, especially when considering the SEC meat-grinder.
Until my death, a win over Bama is an absolutely quality win like no other, to be savored, yet respected.

Some of you are damaged for life over this shite.

sorry, he loves us more than you.

Yeah, but beating Alabama is a big deal. LSU hasn't done it much. Beating LSU, well, not so much.
Seriously, Mikes has been a great coach. Hate to see him go. I've respected the the program he has built. He did it the right way and his team have always been tough, physical teams. He's had a bad run as of late but I believe if given the chance he could have had you guys back in contention quickly. Now, you're about to make a major gamble and spend a lot of money to do it. The results could be catastrophic for this program. Or maybe you make a great hire and compete again for a title in a couple of years.

I would enjoy a brew and fishing with you.

What happened to you? Maybe another poster, but I remember Bamascoop as a level headed poster and breath of fresh air. I don't have any mental condition concerning the outcome of football games, so don't group me with the slice of EVERY team's fanbase who does, if you want an honest conversation. If you are the same Bamascoop, your fellow bad fans have infected you, and you were my favorite Bama fan.
