What did I say that was incorrect? Was Mack not paid as much as I said he was paid? Did Texas not give a brand new coach a $5 million a year contract from the start? Do you really think all these are separate facts, and that A&M should be judged on a different scale?

Sure they are. Some states have higher market rates.

For example the market rate in Michigan is high. Right now both the top two programs in that state have two of the three highest paid coaches in the nation. They pay above market rates.

Meanwhile a state like Florida is below market rates. Muschamp was paid crap, and FSU is just barely paying Jimbo $5 million a year after winning a title.

Almost every major program can afford to pay their coaches more than they do. They don't because of social pressure- IE not wanting to drive up the market. Seeing as how this pressure varies state by state, so do the salaries.

I do think Sumlin is overpaid, the problem with A&M is they think they have a NFL coach which could not be further from the truth. Maybe Chavis gets him to the NFL sooner than later.

Ark made a solid hire and he believes in a strong OL and run game - not that much different than Saban and Miles, he will be more successful than Malzahn long term and is capable of beating Bama.

When will Texas A&M fans realize that no one outside of Texas views them as special, or particularly educated or rich? You are the North Korea of the US, claiming to be great as others snicker and point when you turn around.

keep overpaying coaches for 4th in the West and the natives will start getting restless

Who will start getting restless? Aggies? No fricking way, Sumlin is sitting on a bowl winning streak like we haven't seen. The two coaches before him bottomed out at 4 wins, we aren't going to run off a guy on a bowl streak.

The only natives that will get restless is everyone here when we give Sumlin a raise for getting to second place in the West.

because there is no market rate in coaches salaries that varies by states.

That quite literally does not exist.

Well you should know my talking points on this by now. Texas overpaying their coaches for years gives us the perfect cover.

The real reason- that we didn't want to lose our coach to USC and have to hire a new coach the same cycle as Texas- is lost on everyone here. I have tried.

So frick it, market rates. Because it gets reactions.

no it doesn't. You compare aggy too them to much. It's kinda annoying at this point. We talk about a Big 12 school on this board way too much. Go post about them on the aggy board, man. Jesus.

You say that, and then Texas gave Charlie $5 million a year from the start.

You can't tell me they don't do that if Sumlin was making less.

In Texas the real championship is NOT how long your dick is. In fact its depressing to measure. The real championship is how much you spent on the ruler.

Even at a high school level football in Texas is a bunch of Veblen goods.
