When is the last time an SEC school's best returning player was a punter?

I legitimately believe Alabama's best returning player is JK Scott. Don't care who's on the defense or offense this year. Even though Alabama lost the Ohio State game, it was fun to watch the Buckeye return man running backwards every time they got the ball.

Go watch Auburn vs LSU in 2010. LSU's punter single handedly kept them in that game. Guy kicked (5) times for a better than 50 yard average.

Punters get overlooked but are absolute gems when you have a great one. We had Shane Lechler, arguably maybe the best punter ever.

Field position. I remember that game and he was nails for Bama.

If Tim Masthay hadn't of played with Randall Cobb it probably would've been UK.

He's a beast. Will put the defense in great position this year and bail out the offense when it's struggling.

Alabama's best returning player is A'Shawn Robinson. Dude will probably be a Top 10 pick.

I honestly believe the kid was the MVP of the Bama/Arkansas game last year. Time after time the Bama offense would stall and it looked like the Hogs would get the ball in great field position... and time after time he'd boom a punt that basically flipped the field.

I am not saying this to troll Bama, or poke fun at them. I really do think that Alabama would have lost that game but for the performance that kid put on.

While I am sure that Alabama fans would be thrilled to never see the kid take the field this season because the Tide scored on every position he is a great field position weapon.

Obviously Bama has several others that will be drafted above Scott. I think the OP's point was relative to his position, Scott is the best returning player and having watched him last year, I agree. The kid is a weapon.

2013 when Palardy was the MVP of the team... It's been a long time in the wilderness.

I don't think any rational Bama fan would see that as a troll. I think we would've lost more games if not for him demoralizing teams with 50+ years punts with no return. He was an absolute Gamechanger.

I remember an article (which I can't find), about how after the SEC championship, Scott got Some hot chicks number on the field. Seriously, how many punters have chicks throwing themselves at them? A punter with groupies?

Tim was in my region and a couple years older and was a top 2-3 basketball player, the best wide receiver, and the best soccer player in the region. Not to mention a BA kicker

Tyler Campbell in 2011 was Ole Miss' best returning player. The rest of the best players were true freshmen.
