What's the mood like in Tennessee?

Does everyone want butch fired, because he has only equaled dooleys success? Or do y'all feel like you're just learning how to close games away from being very successful?

have a good friend that is a UT guy. he knows there was an extension signed last year. he knows that there is big buyout. he knows that all of the expectations have come crashing down. he also knows, and is tired of, UT getting a new coach every three years and setting the program back to the leather helmet games. he is just honestly tired of the same thing every three years with no improvement. he has literally stopped watching.

I live in middle Tennessee and the fans are not happy. Lot of angry radio shows. To be honest, though, I think the have been through such hard times lately that they are not as upset as you might think. More sad, really.

If I'm a UT fan, I know it would have been hard to temper expectations this year from all the media love they were getting. I also know that they aren't there yet
Next year I would expect a 9-3 or 10-2 type season or I would flip out.
Let's just say they made a couple plays on D and are 4-1 or 5-0 right now. Then he's a great coach.

At this point, they would be dumb to fire Jones. Yeah, he hasn't produced the wins they were expecting. But he has been recruiting insanely well, especially considering the garbage product on the field most of the time. Get a couple more top 8 classes out of him, wait for that buyout to go down, and then find the next guy. And along the way, who knows. Maybe he will live up to expectation in a year or two.

IT's really bad right now. I think due to how the games were lost with the leads.
I am not 100% ready to give up on the staff due to what you are saying about the turnover and how the big picture could still get achieved at some point with some of this staff in place.
We really need to AT LEAST get to 7-5 and 4-4 in the SEC to show "improvement" or things will be just really, really ugly all offseason and keeping Butch short of going 10-2 next year will just be more detrimental then just letting him go now.

They bring this shite on themselves every year and it is the same thing by the end of September. They will be back in full force in the summer of 2016 for another rendition of "Vols are the best team in the off-season!"

Just heard on the Tony basilio show that there is a rumor going around that there was an altercation between butch and a player
