Derrick Henry's rushing yards are just a product of the system he runs just like a QB from a pass happy offense like OkState or TTech.

I'm sure Bama fans agree to some extent that passing for 500 yards is not THAT impressive when you throw it close 70+ times.

How is it any more impressive to run the ball 200 yards on 45+ carries?

This is isn't about Fournette. It's a legitimate question you won't give an honest answer to

I see your point, and it would be valid if the last two games in terms of his amount of carries weren't an anomaly compared to the rest of the season.

eta: He had 38 carries in the LSU game. So 3 games out of 13 he got a crazy amount of carries. and still kept a good YPC average after carrying it so much in those 3 games.

The SEC has by far the most defensive next level players while the big 12 has the least. That pretty much the difference.

WE GET IT. YOU DONT WANT HENRY TO WIN!!!

Difference is say is Henry got a lot of those yards after contact and against teams stacking the box just to stop him. It didn't work.

Throwing 70 times due to being way behind. Running 40 times and winning your way to back to back playoff appearances. Is ya dumb? *rhetorical*

Henry will win the Heisman this year, a Big XII quarterback will not.

Mayfield attempts 30 passes a game. Not nearly as taxing as 40+ runs a game, especially when the other team pretty much knows you're getting the ball.

But I'm sure this thread seemed like a good idea when you made it

No it's not. Henry has more than 200 yards and 45 carries on the season. Drake being injured had a lot to do with those last two games. And for a QB, dinking and dunking and checking down 50 times is different than throwing long contested passes. Running the ball is running the ball. You get hit at the end every time

Right now I'd say the biggest difference is one is up to win the Heisman Trophy and headed to NYC to find out....and one isn't.

Hint...the Big XII QB isn't.

It's a lot easier to stop a run when you know it's coming as opposed to a pass.

A great throw and a great route will beat perfect coverage 8/10 times

Wait, what? He ran for 271 when he ran it 45+ times.

He ran for 236 on 32
He ran for 210 on 38
He ran for 204 on 22

Stay hot..

Derrick Henry had 23 rushes for 129 yards and a touchdown

Ole Miss by no means stopped Alabama's running game. In fact, Ole Miss was getting gassed in that last Alabama drive. If kiffin hadn't been a dumbass and kept on running the ball, Ole Miss fans wouldn't be running their 9-3 mouths.

Research before you look dumb.
