I attended the 2001 SEC Championship game. All LSU did was run QB draws, and UT had no answer whatsoever. Tennessee needed a win to play in the Nat'l Championship and they couldn't stop a QB draw to save their lives.

2000 Florida vs. Tennessee I attended. 2:14 left in game, Florida gets ball on own 9 down 23-20. Wins 27-23.

2001 UGA vs. Tennessee I attended. Travis Stephens took a screen pass 62 yds for a TD and a 24-20 lead with 44 secs left. Best feeling in the world. Georgia gets ball on own 35, drives down field scores to win 26-24.

3 Chavis heartbreakers. So I went to LSU for school, and he continued to break my heart against Bama.

Stats mean nothing when there's 1 minute left on the clock. All these Aggies do is spit out stats.

Yep, I've watched plenty of games & I know what I have seen under Chavis in certain game situations. Same thing goes for Tennessee fans.

I don't think a single Aggie has said that, and if they have they are dumb. We are going to have an amazing QB with the top WR corps in the nation. Probably another first round pick on the o line, and some meh running backs. Our defensive line will be really good one of the top three or four in the conference, but our linebackers will be shitty. Our safeties will be better than average as well. Our offense will be special, our defense will show some promise.

But I like how you're dismissing the context offered with imaginary anecdotal evidence.

So how many games did the LSU defense win, or put the offense in a great place to win, the last 7 years? 11 or 12 times a season?

your best argument against Chavis

...is that the Chief was a downgrade to Pelini. I'm being serious when I say, that if I could go back in time and convince one of our past DC's to never leave LSU, it would be Pelini.

Not Chavis.

Alot. He's a good coach overall.

He will drive you nuts though. Do you like playing not to lose when you're up by 3?

The problem is there was really not many 3rd downs to work with in the last 2 minutes. I see you Ags going nuts talking about Snyder lining up his DBs 10 yards off the ball........just wait

So you prefer the guy who gave you top 5 defenses to the guy who gave you top 10 defenses? OK. That's not unreasonable. But it's also not a knock on Chavis.

Regarding end of first half drives:

Team year drive time remaining
Uga '13 9-82 TD :20
Aub 12 9-42 FG 1:21
Bama 12 6-63 TD :11
OM 12 11-97 TD :50
WVU 10 10-53 TD :48
OM 10 9-80 TD :27
ARK 10 1-80 TD :00
Wash 09 8-72 FG :00
UF 09 8-80 TD :50
LaT 09 13-83 TD :00
Ark 09 9-38 FG :48

Here are the 7 late game collapses under Chavis, over the last 6 years at ........In these 7 games, LSU either had the lead, or the game was tied and we needed the defense to get off the field to force overtime.
This happened twice over each of the last 3 seasons.

2009 - Penn State 19 LSU17
- With 6:54 to go in the 4th quarter, lsu had a 17-16 lead. Penn State gets the ball at the Penn State 31 yardline, then drives 65 yards in 12 plays over 5:57 to the lsu 4 yardline. They kick a 21 yard FG to go up 19-17.

2012 - Alabama 21 lsu 17
- With 1:34 to go in the 4th quarter, lsu had a 17-14 lead. Alabama gets the ball at the Alabama 28 yardline, then drives 72 yards in 5 plays over 0:43 for the go ahead TD.

2012 - Clemson 25 24
- With 1:39 to go in the 4th quarter, lsu had a 24-22 lead. Clemson gets the ball at the Clemson 20 yardline, then drives 60 yards in 10 plays over 1:39. They kick the go ahead 37 yard FG as time expired. Game Over.

2013 - Georgia 44 lsu 41
- With 4:14 to go in the 4th quarter, lsu had a 41-37 lead. Georgia gets the ball at the Georgia 25 yardline, then drives 75 yards in 6 plays over 2:27 for the go ahead TD.

2013 - Ole Miss 27 lsu 24
- With 3:19 to go in the 4th quarter, the game is tied at 24. Ole Miss gets the ball at the Ole Miss 15 yardline, then drives 61 yards in 13 plays over 3:17 and kick the go ahead 41 yard FG. does nothing with 2 seconds left on the clock.

2014 - Alabama 20 lsu 13 OT
- With 0:50 to go in the 4th quarter, had a 13-10 lead. Alabama gets the ball at the Alabama 35 yardline, then drives 55 yards in 9 plays over 0:50 and kicks a 37 yard FG to tie the game at 13.

2014 - Notre Dame 31 lsu 28
- With 5:41 to go in the 4th quarter, the game is tied at 28. Notre Dame gets the ball at the Notre Dame 15 yardline, then drives 71 yards in 14 plays over 5:41 and kicks the go ahead 32 yard FG as time expires. Game Over.

Eta: 2012 bama game 14 of bamas 21 points game with a td to end the half and at the end of the game

You don't recall him covering Reche Caldwell one-on-one with a linebacker?

See: every Florida game in the 90s.

I'm glad you brought it up

Chavis career winning percentage when his defense sees the field with a one score lead and under five minutes to go: 77.8% (63-18)

Breaking that down further, of the 18 losses 4 involved the offense turning the ball over inside his team's own 40 and 2 were after kick returns into FG range. In the 63 wins, his offense retook the lead after he lost it six times. So at the absolute worst, we can say Chavis has held onto a one score lead late in games 70% of the time.

Stats thanks to the 247 board.

Why do yall keep posting the Ole Miss 2013 game? Your offense didn't score a point for the first 39 minutes of the game. You never deserved to win

Just being honest. While I appreciate what The Chief did here at LSU, I think him leaving...along with Brick Haley...was the best thing that could happen for LSU.

And maybe for The Chief as well.

I mean. I want my defense to stop the opposing team with the same or better frequency than they did all game, and play great offense to take pressure off the defense. If my team is up by three I know I've done some combination of successful offense and defense enough to get me there. It's unreasonable to expect it to work out in your favor every drive, and the times it doesn't you remember more frequently, but I hope I'll be of sound enough mind to objectively assess blame and success. And as LSU fans, how Chavis deserves any blame for your success, or lack their of, during his tenure, given how embarrassing the offense was, is ridiculous. Y'all could have been mentioned in the same breath as 2001 Miami until 21-0 happened, and that was with one of the worst offenses ever. These arguments are baffling.

Wait, this is good enough for you? I thought you guys wanted to compete nationally.
