Lived there for 5 years before I moved to Austin last June so some of the places might be still legit:
It all depends on your budget etc:
Highland Grill-downtown Birmingham. Might be the best restaurant in Birmingham. Bar is solid too . Not exactly cheap
Avondale Brewing Company- legit craft beer & Beer Garden spot In Birmingham. It's on Bham's Southside in the Avondale area
Good People Brewing Co- excellant craft brewing company across from Regions Field downtown Birmingham
Tin Roof-lakeview. Probably one is favs . Scenery is unreal.
world of beer-one of my favorite places in Birmingham to drink a beer it's in Five Points
Rouge Tavern- good tavern in downtown Birmingham
innisfree Irish pub in Lakeview-Derrick Purdy owner is very LSU friendly knows the walk on guys real well
Nana Funks - hook up bar opened all night in lake view on the weekends
Rare martini - lake view good crowd can be douchebag
Rojo- my favorite Bham restauant in Southside. Very reasonably priced
Garage cafe-good people watching bar . Cool place . Brought friends here when I lived there . Good 1st drink place
Soho in Homewood-the Bham Perkins Rowe
Superior Grill on Hwy 280 in Hoover/Iverness-basically like the one in Baton Rouge
Gray bar-bar not far from Superior on 280
Courtyard bar 280 open to 6am-LSU guy owns the place . A hook up place as well. food? Great . Chicken Nachos are solid
Maragrita grill in Pelham - Mexican place good bar
moe's BBQ in Lakeview or Vestavia Hills. One of the best BBQ joints . Dreamland in Bham is waste of money not like the one in ttown
Cajun steamers Hoover-overrated cajun food but a lot of LSU people will be there
Botaga-outside of Rojo my go to Place to eat . It can be somewhat expensive
Jay Clyde - Legendary bar in downtown Bham
Blue Monkey lounge - next to Jay Clyde . Cool place
Gabriel's in Hoover -dive bar
sal's juke Box-if it is still open
odie's tavern in Mountain Brook - tfm bar
Workplay -great live music venue in downtown Bham
Iron City -live music downtown. Always books good Acts
Golf Courses: Ross Bridge is very close to the Hoover Met.
Pretty good .
Oxmoor Valley is favorie course if you go Trent Jones .
highland in southside is the Orginal Trent Jones course , use to be Bham CC,
ole Overton if you know a member Bc its a badass golf course

I translate that into meaning "Loose women wanting to F." I'd go there.

Anybody know ticket availability and prices?

Walk up to ticket window, usually little or no line. General admission tix are between 10 & 15 bucks. I know for sure that reserved seating is $20 a game. Buy your tix per game just (ha) in case we lose.

if you have some time, go to the Barber Motorsports Museum.

Check out the Summitt off highway 280--nice shopping area for everyone. Five Points South has some bars and is a nice area to hang out. I used to live there.
Edited to say enjoy the hills for me. I love Louisiana but miss hills/mountains

In my college days we used to go to Club South for penny beer, $5 mason jars of Long Island Iced Tea, and karaoke. No idea if it's still open.
