What the SEC should DEMAND to schedule 9 conference games

Greg Sankey needs to have a little pow wow with CBS and ESPN.
Just let them know that we will go to 9 conference games IF they jump our contracts up by AT LEAST a net of plus 25%
AND guarantee us that we will be paid 10% more than any other conference for at least 10 years
Make it make us more money and make it happen

Finally! An angle on this worn out topic worth talking about.

Totally agree. We are getting ripped off with our CBS contract though and they won't budge. Going to 9 games won't help CBS since they only do 1 game a week. We could work with ESPN on it though.

Am I missing something here?Is CBS demanding we play 9 games?
I understand all the talk about it and the Big 10 announcment but the networks weren't the reason the Big 10 made their announcement and I don't see ESPN sweetening the pot for an extra game and I'm assuming a clause already exists in the current contract if there will be additional conference games.(Slive was a pretty sharp guy)
Also,it was reported that Disney wants to reign in the contracts that ESPN has been paying for CFB rights.

I thought those were the only contracts they were making money with. I thought it was the Mike and Mike/Cowherd contracts that were losing them money. Live sports is the only reason I would ever have cable. The rest I'd rather stream (or if that's inconvenient, pirate)

One more game for the rest of the country to bitch even more about the SEC.....

you do realize that 9 conference games lowers the amount of total games they can air on tv dont you?

CBS doesn't even cover SEC games until around the third week of the season.
because of the stupid US open tennis.

Not sure exactly where they want cost cutting to come from but they were told to cut $200 million in 2016 and maybe more depending on what the climate is for cable subscriptions...been going in downward trend the last 3 years.

How does this idea work?

Are they just going to pull another time slot out of thin air? They gonna put it on ESPN U,ESPN 4,ESPN 8?
Our they gonna go head to head with other SEC games?
(I know theres already some cross scheduling but I m sure they want to keep that to a minimum)
Of course they're gonna show LSU vs UGA or UF vs A&M...just dont see a scenerio that we demand ESPN pony up funds or what?We wont go to a 9 game schedule?
Like I said before,I can guarantee there are already some caveats in the current contract providing for more money if the league schedule is increased.

I know about it. And once my ex roommate cancels his cable, and I don't have his password, I'll get it.

Say the SEC goes to 9 conference games. That means one OOC game gets dropped for every team. So instead of, say, A&M/LaTech and Georgia/UCF, we get A&M/Georgia. You go from two games to one game. Assuming all teams still try to schedule 1 or 2 marquee OOC opponents, going to 9 conference games will improve the overall quality of the conference season TV lineup. But it will also reduce the number of games to be broadcast.
