What the heck has happened to LSU baseball?

As an Auburn fan, I've always actually liked LSU baseball, being from Louisiana and all. After all, we were the model of ineptitude. But LSU tanking this year so far, I don't get it. Any explanations?

They aren't very good.
Weekend rotation and 2 hitters have been fine
Pen, every other hitter, and defense have been bad

We suck
TBH, it's a VERY young team. There are only a few seniors and they are mostly backups and walk ons. Freshman pitchers, Freshman 2nd base, Freshman outfield, Freshman Catcher.
Leadership is missing is my best guess. We just need to tie a team on a sunday while wearing our Yellow Unis and then we will rip off 23 straight wins again

Could have just stopped right there.
We had several recruits that unexpectedly got better MLB offers than they were projected to. We're paying the price for that now.

Happens every year. We just are really young and we need a few more bats and a few more arms

Every team in college baseball has to deal with the possibility that a recruit is going to go to MLB before signing. I just think Mainieri has to be a better evaluator of talent. LSU is simply not as good as the other teams they are playing against.

no hitters in this line-up. no leadership and poor coaching.

very young team right now. Should be good in the future if their confidence hasn't been shattered.

Looking at their schedule from here on out, LSU could definitely be in a position to streak into the post-season. They may not win 23 straight, but with series against Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and State, they could easily take 10 of those 12 SEC matchups.

we could get on a roll because the remaining conference schedule does indeed appear to be favorable. But there are some issues that need to be corrected.
LSU does have maybe a few more than others who either left early or took MLB money over LSU out of HS.But that merely explains why LSU isn't a top 10 team -- not 4-14 in league play.
Maineri's first team wasn't very good in '07 but that was explainable. While the '08 team got on a roll and made it to Omaha, that team sputtered badly in conference play until late April. Only the 2009 CWS Title team has played well from start to finish in regular season conference play in the five seasons Maineri has been in Baton Rouge.

I'm sure LSU will finally get it together when they play us.

Inexperienced team
Too many holes in lineup
Relief pitching too inconsistent
With that said, bats have changed the game and the roster limits are creating more parity in the game as well. If your a jr/sr laden team it will be hard to replace those guys in one year.
