He was making $1.3 million at Louisville, with 3 more years on his contract.

He left (not fired, no buyout) to coach at Miss St for only $650k.

Seems really really odd.

State fans, what are your thoughts?

Hmmm

From USA Today...

quote:

MSU defensive coordinator Todd Grantham will be paid $650,000 by the school, documents obtained by The Clarion-Ledger through an open records request show. But that does not account for possible undisclosed private funds affiliated with the University, which the school said some coaches receive. The records of the private foundation are not subject to the Mississippi Public Records Act.

This sounds like some shady shite.

That is odd. Especially considering Cam turned down 180k or so to play at State so he could go play at AU for free.

1) He's likely making more than the $650K
2) have you seen Louisville's D this year? He probably saw what was coming and decided to head somewhere else
3) would you want to work for Petrino for 1 day longer than necessary?

How is that shady? Booster clubs/foundations pay the majority of salaries for just about every SEC coach

UGA had an ncaa violation when coaches were being supllemented out of Mark Richt's own pocket.

I'm not so sure about this.

A few years ago, Mark Richt paid modest bonuses to all of his coaches out of his own salary, because AD rejected the pay raise requests. NCAA found out, and slapped Georgia's wrist.

Some shady shite going down in Stark.

The D coordinator swap in the offseason was surprising. The idea that both shitty coaches founds jobs was in itself a miracle. The fact that they took each others jobs.. well 1 in a million odds.

I'm not sure which is the worse measure, 3rd and Grantham or 3rd and Sermon.

You can’t be serious. This is who every coach in the SEC is paid. Hell Mullen only makes like $650,000 a year. The Bulldog Club supplements the rest that isn’t endorsements.

Yup. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

For the record, I never said we would lead the SEC in offense. We would have better production if we didn't have three of our best guys out with femur fractures, tho.

Some of you are incredibly stupid. Paying some or a large portion of a coach's salary out of the athletic foundation takes the burden off the taxpayers of mississippi and lord knows they need it. What you are talking about when it comes to Mark Richt is him personally paying someone as opposed to a coach being on contract. I could probably find the NCAA bylaws on coaches salary and how it can and can't be paide, but i don't care about appeasing stupid people.
