I know many of you will tell me this belongs on the Coaching Changes board so flame away if you please....but I want other SEC fans opinions on this. I believe USF will snag Kiffin. It seems Helfrich has reached out and is a very viable possibility....I honestly can't imagine going from our conservative O to implementing Oregon like offensive schemes. Our offense would change completely. Thoughts by the Rant on him coming to LSU? Good, bad?

Chip Kelly was always the mastermind of Oregon's offense. No flame, but Helfrich reached out to LSU much like Cameron did after he was fired and no one wanted him. It's a "strike three" type hire.

LSU is too good of a job to be settling for hires.

Will Coach O allow that silly bastard to go for the 2 point conversion after every TD? I think the old guard LSU fans will buck at his schemes. There will be a lot of "just run the damn ball" being yelled inside of Tiger Stadium. It would be very interesting to observe that's for sure.

Don't want. Oregon's offenses never fared well against SEC defenses.

An Oregon fan who knows that team upside down come on the CC board yesterday and says that its complete BS that he didn't call any plays in all his years at Oregon. Says he is a very solid OC, just not HC material. He had consecutive top 10 offenses for yearrrrrssssss as their OC. Great QB developer as well. He seems alot like Aranda as far as his teaching style and how smart his...just on the offensive side of the ball.

And yes....I agree that we would hear alot of people clammering to run the ball more! I know we want to run a power spread.

As a Bama fan, I'd be thrilled.

Chip Kelly made him good. Mariota made him great. Without either of the two, he was exposed.

Not sure LSU has the personnel to make that offense a success right now. May be some growing pains during the transition. Are LSU fans willing to take another one to two years of mediocrity?

Why? You think what we are doing now is working against you guys?? We have to spread your D out if we are going to score any points. If you look at all the teams that have beaten Bama in the last 5-6 years...it mostly took Dual Threat QB's and a spread passing attack to have any success. That is what O wants to do...

Exactly. This isn't five years ago and Bama has adapted to these type offenses.

If someone was to give a shite about it , they would come to the CC board to discuss it. That is why they have a board for it. So I guess what I'm saying is GFY.

These topics from LSU fans never get old.

Last November - "What are the Rant's thoughts on Jimbo to LSU?" (part I)

Offseason - "What are the Rant's thoughts on Miles with a revamped offense at LSU?"

September to November - "What are the Rant's thoughts on Jimbo to LSU?" (part II)

September to October - "What are the Rant's thoughts on Petrino to LSU?"

Two weeks ago - "What are the Rant's thoughts on Herman to LSU?"

Last week - "What are the Rant's thoughts on O with Kiffin and Aranda?"

Now - "What are the Rant's thoughts on O with Helfrich and Aranda?"

I look forward to "How scared is the Rant of Houston Nutt at LSU with Jim Chaney and Dave Wommack?" in two years.

Ummmm...try again.

As quarterbacks coach, Helfrich was instrumental in the development of the quarterbacks that played under his tutelage at Oregon. In 2009, Jeremiah Masoli's leadership improved as he led Oregon to the 2010 Rose Bowl. The following season sophomore Darron Thomas guided an undefeated Oregon team to the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Thomas finished his career 23-3 as a starter with a school-record 66 touchdown passes[19] and led the Ducks to a 45–38 victory over #10 Wisconsin in the 2012 Rose Bowl. The 2012 season showcased Marcus Mariota as the first freshman to start a season opener for the Ducks in 22 seasons.[20] He led the Ducks to a 12–1 record while being named All-Pac-12 Conference First Team,[21] Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year,[21] and winning the 2013 Fiesta Bowl Offensive MVP Award as he guided the Ducks to a 35-17 victory over #5 Kansas State.[22] He then guided Oregon to the National Championship game and won the Heisman in 2014.
