2007 Pitt over WVU. If WVU wins, they're preparing for a national title instead of LSU. Rodriguez stays at WVU because of the national title game and doesn't take the Michigan job. If LSU wasn't preparing for a national title, would Miles have taken the Michigan job? If Miles had taken it, would he have been successful enough for them to aggressively pursue Harbaugh?

That had already occurred in 2004 to a 6-6 UNC and a 6-5 Clemson. Didn't take an 11-2 LSU.

Bama essentially ended Texas' football program in the 2009 National Championship. They folded up and quit as a program after that night.

1926 Rose Bowl between Alabama and Washington.

Before this game football in the South was considered mediocre at best.

The rest is history.

The big shootout 1969. That loss has basically set the tone for arkansas and Texas ever since.

This is certainly a popular sentiment over here, but the fact is that Texas was headed for a losing 2010 season whether they had won that game or not.

Arkansas was a legit national power after that for some time but not in the sense of being the one team you picked for the championship.

I would also add the game where Bama thumped Miami for the national title. Miami never really regained their swagger after that.

considering they had just won 9 of their last 10 games and were ranked in the top 10, I would disagree

2001 12-0
2002 12-1
2003 11-2
2004 9-3
2005 9-2
2006 7-6
2007 5-7

Tuberville beating Alabama like a drum for the fifth time in 2006 had quite the impact on that program.

This. Although even if the playoffs were in that year, Bama and LSU would of likely still faced off in the championship game. LSU would of been ranked number 1 going into the playoffs and Bama would of been number 2. Nobody else was beating either of those teams that year. Those two teams were probably top 5 all time best teams in college football history. Both were dominating on both sides of the ball (well, LSU was up until the championship game anyway). Saban just altered his game plan for that championship game and Les did not.

Ironic isnt it. A great victory for au ended up being a great victory for Bama.
