That can have unforeseen consequences Wade.
Well, we're seeing the consequences now of a college system that has it's hands tied behind it's back.

Hello BTW. Hope you are having a good week.
It's pretty good. Yours?

The alternative is not always great either. Colleges here have autonomy and the pressure value for the same politics was tuitions going through the roof. Sometimes it is a choice between two bad options.

That is good to hear! Mine is doing pretty good, just working extra hard because starting next Friday I have a week off to see my grandad (the one that is an Ole Miss fan).
Well I hope you continue to have a good rest of the week and weekend Wade!

SUNO graduates under 20% of their students
SUNO needs to be folded into UNO, no doubt. And UNO needs to be propped up and supported better. There should be a decent public university in the state's largest city.
The schools we need to take a closer look at are LSU-A, LSU-E, ULM, Grambling, SUNO, SU-S, Nicholls, Northwestern.
Maybe they don't have to be shuttered. Maybe they have programs that supply a real need. If so, turn them over to the CC system.

I'd be more inclined to trust the free market with that. If university becomes so expensive that people finally start questioning the ROI, and seriously consider sending their children into a more skilled discipline or trade school, that's probably better for our country in the end.

What the frick are you talking about?
LSU athletics are completely separate from the university, as a matter of fact they GIVE money TO the university. They should shut the school down so the football team could spend more money on facilities instead of wasting it on some liberal fricktard 'professors'.
Wow.

Yeah, but you have a lost generation of earners in the middle of that which drags down the whole system of entitlements and elderly healthcare. Its hard man.

You basically named off random accolades every school including Mississippi State carries. Good effort, but it's part of being an actual college.
By the way, I notice a lot of "Top 30s" in your little list. Does that mean LSU is outside the Top 25? How many colleges actually have Petroleum Engineering, Coastal Geophysics, Entrepreneurship Studies, Internal Auditng, and Hurricane Engineering Curriculum?
Exactly. Most of those top 30 rankings he listed were because there are only 30-50 universities in the nation with those random majors. #2 in landscaping!!! Watch out Princeton.

You and PNW are right. There's no learning done at LSU. It only exists to teach Louisiana poors how to read and do basic math because we didn't learn that in high school. Anyone who doesn't go to LSU ends up on swamp people.
Seriously, pull the foreign object out of your arse. LSU is a pretty good school for a lot of programs, and a great school for some.

I never said it was not a good school. It's a basic state university that reflects the state it is in since an overwhelming majority of students are Louisiana residents. I was laughing at the poster who was trying to make LSU sound like Cal, UVA or Michigan with all of his random rankings for programs most universities do not have. There is nothing wrong with what LSU is so just embrace it.

I never made any reference to Alabama or any comparison of Alabama to LSU. I'm simply refuting a few LSU fans who are delusional enough to think that LSU is a nationally renowned or prestigious university. It's a state school for state people.

I'm a senior at LSU, I've been to class a few times it's pretty sweet but nothing to get too jacked up about.

Let's call a spade a spade, man. LSU isn't that good of a school. It was top tier for a second because they expanded the top tier, not because LSU improved substantively. And certainly, LSU will be losing that top tier status in the very near future because of the budget cuts.
LSU was already behind and now its going in reverse. That's reality. If you can't see it, you're fooling yourself.

I should say that my current school is going through very similar budget cuts. The implications are even more drastic. UW-Madison will slip out of the Top 50. A "public ivy" no more. Truly sad.

That sucks. And it also explains why the football program didn't want to spend what it would take to stop all those coaching exoduses.

Players like Travonte Valentine become ineligible due to academics all the time. There are many players, some with good talent, some with average talent become ineligible all the time.
Being an LSU fan I am biased of course, but everyone has to admit when a player screws up whether its academics, failed drug test, trouble with the law(Multiple times), Les Miles always makes the correct decision by booting them off the team. The players may get a second chance if there is a way to do that. Remember we were poised to really go all the way and Miles booted the "honey badger". Miles and LSU didn't want to see our best play off the team, but we stuck by the rules.
I have seen several other SEC schools given the talent of the player come up with some punishment illegally or legally i.e. community service and then fold that player back into the team, but a less talented player, gone, see ya later... Some of these schools will do anything to win, including allowing their players to do anything they want.
LSU and Les Miles has kept its integrity when players get in trouble. When a player makes a mistake, because they are a team, LSU and Miles do everything possible to help that player, whether that player is going to have a chance to play for LSU again or not. We care about our young men. Schools can't watch their athletes 24/7. But, when something does happen, the least a school could do is bring some integrity to the table and treat these players like young men and not kids. Some schools will overlook anything to win.
I am proud of LSU
Now, can I run for Governor
