Love Auburn or hate 'em, some of y'all should be kissing their feet. Long story short, if they hadn't gone undefeated in '04, a few of those SEC teams in future MNCs would've never gotten the benefit of the doubt....

They've won one natty title (played for another) and two SEC championships in the last 10 years. Granted when AU fails. They fail spectacularly but they have hardware

Auburn has never won a NC while not being on probation or the NCAA looking for a loophole to keep their entire offense eligible

Auburn was screwed in 1983; probation prevented them in 1993; was unfortunate in 2004; was close in 2013. 6 national championship caliber teams. Auburn fans can show some arrogance. Their team has accomplishments.

Disagree. 2006 Florida is what started the SEC getting the benefit of the doubt. If OSU had wiped the floor with them as expected, it would have been a lot different.

Yep. AU gets nor deserves credit for starting the SEC run.

Yeah, well, Auburn shitting the bed against Georgia that year was what really started it all. Because it would have been hard for Florida to jump Michigan if Auburn was ranked ahead of them, and the experts would have said that Auburn couldn't go because they didn't win their conference championship. Though SOS and other arguments might have pushed Auburn in since they had a victory over a top 4 conference champion.

Disagree with you, lol...if Auburn finished with one or two losses in '04, USC/Oklahoma would've been universally agreed upon as the proper MNC matchup, regardless of the final score....because OU lost the way they did, Auburn going undefeated allowed wiggle room for the next SEC team that was on the bubble. I honestly think UF would've been passed over if it wasn't for AU '04, despite the Gators proving they were the rightful and deserving champs.
