"Yeah, we know you committed to play for Miles and Cameron, but you guys fricked up and lost 2 games so they're gone. Have fun the remaining 8 games; they don't really matter. Coach O is going to be your leader now and, uh, I'm sure there's someone who can coach QB's and run the offense. Next year, try not to lose 2 close games on the road, ok? Great..."

I would bet Les' buyout that many players' privately exposed opinions positively influenced the firing.

Think of these first 3 as an appetizer. There's so much to work with here...

Les sucks.
LSU runs a stale, boring offense.
LSU is the devil for firing the Les.

That adds up.

How about, "Time for a fresh start and some new blood. We gave the staff a shot and they weren't able to right the ship, so we are making a change now rather than playing out the string with a lame duck staff." The players know what was going on after last year. In my opinion, the players were more likely to quit ON Miles at this point, rather than without him.

It could go either way. It could head south or, like with Orgeron at USC, the change could stabilize things. We'll have to see about all that, but I don't think it's the negative message to the players that you guys make it out to be.
