ink football is going the way of nascar with safety making it boring if they keep going. The likes of art briles and cliff kingsbury have turned it into basketball. Most physicality has been removed just from style of play, don't water it down anymore with stupid rules. Crackback blocks should be legal. If u don't want to get hit, don't play.
It is hard for me to imagine that this play(one of the most famous in Bama history), is illegal in today's game. A future NFL linebacker hitting a future NFL qb. Now 15 yards and an ejection.

because it's not. he didn't target him with the helmet, he came face on and wrapped him up. Notice his head is the last thing to move backwards, if he were targeting it would be the first thing. Furthermore, You can't wrap up when you're targeting. that is a clean hit even today.

Take off your homer glasses. You just sound dumb.

Looks legal but I wonder if you could make the same argument of a penalty being called because it's a backside block and they play is going the other way. Kind of like taking out a QB on an interception for the fun of it.
I say that for argument's sake. I wouldn't call a flag on that if I were a ref but I wouldn't call a lot of flags because I think the offense has damn near been allowed to be wrapped in bubble wrap lately.

but not sure the point of it exactly.
To stop the best defensive end/player in the country.
A chip by the OT would have been just as effective.

yes i'm serious. body was faced away from the "blocker" at a 45* angle, the TE hit him from behind, not directly obviously, but it's still technically a block in the back

maybe, but the flag would get thrown and they would review it, that was my frist Bama game as a youngster and it seemed like the whole stadium said "woo!"

This is not a crackback block for christ's sake. Look up the definition of a "crackback." What is in that video is not it.
That absolutely is a crack back block. It's iffy to me whether it is illegal. If it was a WR doing that to a LBer, it would be 100% illegal. I've never seen a motion WR do it to a DE before. I'm not really sure how the crack back rules apply. Since it probably counts as in the box, it's probably legal. I still think it's bush league. It accomplishes nothing except get a blindside hit on Garrett.

I thought Aggies liked getting it from behind.

Like I said, legal but shady.
There is a difference between a dirty play and an illegal one.

No one is arguing that fact. It's just nice to see it coming first, thats all.

There is a difference between a tackle and a pancake block, you should study a little more.

As I've said multiple times, it's part of a package they run. If you watch other Arkansas games this season, or go back and watch tape from the Auburn game on last season, you will see a variation of it again. You put it on tape and run something else different off that motion later in the season.
