What does the rant think about this illegal crack back block?

LINK

There is a slow motion video in the link. Arkansas put a TE/slot WR in motion in a run play away from Garrett, then crack back blocked him TOWARD the run.

I've never seen that in my life, and I missed it during the game.

Edit: this is unquestionably an illegal block. For proof, see Uncle Gunnysack's post on page 4.

I look forward to seeing Arky gameplan like that against Mr. Key from LSU.

Oh wait - they won't.

Great play. We've been running variations of it for awhile now.

Whether it's dirty or not, I've never in my life seen that before now. It would never have occurred to me to crack back on a backside DE toward a run play. That's just exceedingly unusual.

Cool. Sounds like you're fine with Kubs block last year then.

Contact was above the waist.

Player was not engaged.

No penalty.

Well executed plan to get back side tackle to second level.

They started running that motion and block in the Auburn game last year and ran it a couple times each game the rest of the season. It was obvious when they were doing it because they brought in Anthony Antwine and Damon Mitchell which were backups that didn't play. They ran it as a toss to the block side the first four or five times and then they started building in play action passes and other runs off it once they got it on film enough times for teams to jump the toss. It was actually pretty succesful.

This year they've expanded it to different formations, plays and personel groupings as you see there.

Your player hit low when the play was over... Arkansas player hit high and never tried to take knees out

How does blocking the DE into the tackle help get the tackle to the second level? If the DE is engaging the tackle to keep him off the LBer, blocking that DE into the tackle ain't gonna help.
