That people are reactionary and have short memories.
Urban is a helluva coach, but Saban won 4 titles in 6 years, and is about to have his 5th straight #1 class. He also won titles at 2 schools like Urban.

If you stacked the height of the red states, they would be shorter than the more urban states.

That whoever is holding the current trophy is the GOAT.

I think people kinda overlook Saban's non NC years at Alabama. They have been REALLY close 3 of the 4 years they didn't make it, not counting 07. Not a "print the shirts" comment by any means, but it's still something that deserves a bit of consideration when looking at how successful he has been.

This sentence summarizes the American people from 1787-Present.

His worst year in the last 7 is 10-3. He (and Alabama) are held to a different standard than everyone else, which is fine.

-Urban Meyer is considered the best coach in college football by 53% of people who answered this poll
-Nick Saban is considered the best coach in college football by 28& of people who answered this poll
-19% of people who answered this poll consider someone other than Urban Meyer or Nick Saban to be the best coach in college football
-Possible evidence of recency bias
-Possible evidence of proximity bias
-People in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana have greater football IQ than people in other states.

Coaching is coaching + recruiting?
Saban has had the best players by far in college football for like 6 years now. Shouldn't he win or be close every year? Yes. That would be expected when you have the best players at about every position.
Is Saban the best recruiter? Yes
Is Saban the best coach on the field? Not so sure.

That Florida is still butt-hurt?

Urban won the national title 3 days ago. If you are not affiliated with either program that is the last thing anyone else remembers. Saban had no chance in a poll like this put out the day after the title game.

So have lots and lots of other coaches. How many coaches have had a 7 year stretch in which they :
* 84-11 Overall (avg 12-1.5)
* 49-7 SEC (avg 7-1)
* 3 conference titles
* 3 national titles
* 4 divisional titles
* 6 BCS/Playoff games
* 7 Top 10 Finishes
* 4 Top 5 Finishes
* worst year : 10-3, #10 final ranking
* 1 season (2010) losing > 1 regular season game
His elite consistency is close to un-paralleled in the modern era.

The variables nation's poorest, fattest states (+ Georgia) and proclivity for Saban appear to show correlation.

Ain't no damn way SC voted for Meyer. Or all they polled were clemson fans...that would explain it.

I meant just about any good college coach can achieve great success if they have his caliber of players. TCU would've, in my opinion, had a 50/50 shot at beating Bama if they were in the playoff game against each other. TCU has probably never broken #20 on recruiting rankings. So what does that say about Patterson?
And like the other poster said, other schools are catching up in terms of building up rosters.
