See in our team? Did they appear to be better than expected? To me, I honestly thought they played with more heart and fire. Smart seemed to get the most out of who he played last night. I guess that's the best we could have hoped for.

D played well.
Chubb looks fine.
QB looks like a young Cam with a better arm.

I said yesterday that the unc vs uga game would be the best of the day.
I really would prefer that you guys start the freshman and let him go with it.
seemed to be exactly what I expected from uga, though.
I think that you guys will have a decent shot at winning the east.

Pretty much looked like I thought you would against UNC. Chubb looked great but also looked a tad rusty which is actually good news for you because I don't think he's quite 100 yet but he will be. I'm sure that game helped knock a lot of it off. Eason looked good at times and has the arm we all thought he did.
I think the OL still needs work but the DL looked better than it did earlier in the year. WRs still need work.
Overall very much what I expected.

Agree. Chubb was awesome. Incredible kid.
Defense was ok. UNC was able to get the edge running a few times and for the life of me I cant figure put why they only ran the ball 15 times. Logan Jr. Was averaging 12.3 YPC and Hood had 8 YPC. So they ran it 15 times. Dumb. Also UGAs DB wer burned a couple times deep. UNC WRs just couldnt haul it in.
Oline was pretty good. They need to get better at blitz pick up. UNC got pretty good penetration as well.
UGA TE and WRs were meh. McKenzie is really the only bright spot. Chigbu looked pretty bad.
Lambert was Lambert. Eason looked pretty good. Easy throws. One good throw to McKenzie on a defensive mismatch. Thought his first three deep throws were very suspect. The first was a wobbler and way off target. The subsequent two were underthrows that caused PI's one of which was a horrible call and the WR had to try and come back through the DB who had his head turned trying to locate the ball. The first PI was the same except the DB did not try to locate the ball. I could tell the ball was underthrown the second he threw it. I honestly wasnt impressed with the arm strength. Ive much better velocity from other QBs. I think Eason is a finese passer. Nothing wromg with that but i dont see elite arm strength.
Just MO.

Chubb was awesome. The refs and dumb playcalling and execution by the UNC staff and players helped out as well

Your schedule sets up well for everyone to work out these "firsts" problems. You should be at the very worst 5-2 when facing Florida but more likely 6-1 or even 7-0.

D looked pretty good. You can see flashes in Eason but he's a true freshman so you know he's going to made a few boneheaded decisions at some point.
Chubb looked like a beast. I figured Georgia would gash that god awful UNC run defense over and over.
I'm very interested to see the UGA/OM game

Kirby has already improved the defense greatly. NC has a potent offense (probably much better than anybody in the SEC east)
The offense seems to be mostly Chubb at this point.

At this point I fully expect you to win the East. Yes Georgia is going to run the ball at you, who didn't already know that before he year started, so if you have a QB that can sling it just a little bit, you should get points vs most teams. You need to get better but so does everyone else.
You won't get those calls like that all the time and you will run up against some better defenses so some games will be lower scoring. If Kirby learned anything from Saban about game prepping and getting his kids to play there is no excuse for you not to be in Atlanta again this year.

Good thing techies know nothing about QB play. What a joke

Without Chubb UGA is not a top 15 team. The OLine is not very good, no improvement there. The D is not top tier by any stretch. Play calling is not better. Team played with too much emotion and lacked discipline at times. If this wasn't basically a home game for UGA to allow them to feed off emotion they don't win.
You can tell Kirby doesn't trust his QBs and isn't letting Chaney call plays. Maybe that effected how the OLine was playing but UGA was fortunate to win on Saturday. If Chubb misses anytime this year this is a 7/8 win team.

Obvious that you didn't watch the game if you think they didn't look good.
Your take on Eason proves you either know nothing about football, or you are just being delusional because UGA owns Tech.

Chubb isn't the only good RB they have so I don't really agree with the premise of this statement but supposing I did, then what you are saying is that with Chubb, they can win 10 or 11 games, go to the Ga Dome, make it respectable in the loss to Saban, then go to pretty good bowl, Cotton/Citrus and have a better than 50% chance to win that one to cap off a "reboot" rebuild year with a new coach?
Ok.

Still too early for me to be confident in long term predictions.
But I think Georgia and Florida are poised to be the top of the east for some time. As much as I hoped Smart would falter, (after, imo, his behind the scenes manipulation of Smith and his parents), it looks like he has a chance to be an good HC, possibly exceptional.
Georgia with an exceptional coach who has cut his coaching teeth and recruiting teeth with Saban could become be a force to be reckoned with.
TLDR: Georgia is good, will get better even though I was pulling for Smart to falter.

I can't tell if you didn't watch any UGA games last season or you just don't understand football. The line had some trouble picking up the blitz, especially early, but the penetration and running lanes they opened up was worlds ahead of where they were last season. The offensive line couldn't create running lanes versus Southern University last season.
