My definition of a rivalry would be like...two teams that face off every year, and no matter the talent gap, they always play evenly matched. Unless one of the teams is legendarily bad. See: Auburn vs LSU 2012.

It seems like all the predictions mean nothing, all the talent means nothing, and it's two evenly matched teams that see who has more determination. LSU and Ole Miss is one such rivalry, as one often plays spoiler to the other.

The biggest example of this would have to be Georgia and SCAR. I watch those games and halfway through I'll be scratching my head because Georgia should be blowing them out.

Just my take... I can't fricking wait for tomorrow.

12-10 was the exact definition of what you're talking about.

Try 2011

I was gonna say 2011, but I think LSU and Bama were in a separate division that year.

I think a balance is important where the teams are 50/50 or 60/40 along with the above. It also helps if there is a history and a geographic contest of best in the state or best across a shared border.

I think it's an over used word.

I consider FSU, Georgia, and Auburn our true rivals.

Miami, Tennessee, LSU...not full rivals to me. Tenn is based off the awesome games in the 90's, LSU off the awesome games in the 2000's, Miami based on location. I just don't consider any rivals. Auburn and UF needs to come back, ASAP.
