I think Alabama is due for a down year. What do you guys say? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this Bama squad.

Recent history would indicate that the odds are very low.

I wouldnt put money on it. Now, if they end up laying a brick at the QB position, they may. That goes for any team though.

You're just gonna have to wait for Nick Saban to retire like everyone else.

I guess it's possible if we get a few really bad bounces of the ball, but I'd say the odds are pretty low given the talent and coaching we have.

Bama doesn't play Ole Miss more than once this year. So nope.

Until this changes...it won't happen anytime soon.

CURRENT FIVE-STAR PLAYERS BY TEAM

1. Alabama: 18
T2. Georgia 8
T2. Texas A&M 8
4. Florida 6
T5. Auburn 5
T5 LSU 5
T5. Ole Miss 5
T8. Mississippi State 1
T8. Missouri 1
T8. Tennessee 1

compared to any other SEC team, Alabama has more than twice as many five-star players on the roster. In fact, if you add the five-star players on Georgia and Texas A&M — which each boast of eight, second-most in the conference — it doesn’t equal Alabama’s talent.

Heading into spring practices Alabama's roster features 19 players who were considered consensus 5-star recruits, in addition to 49 4-star prospects. Combined, that's just under 80 percent of the entire team.No one else in the nation is even close to that.

I could easily see 3 losses this year. Hasn't happened recently, but UT, LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas and USC should be pretty good. Auburn will certainly be better, although I still think that's a W.

Past performance does not necessarily indicate future results.

See: 2010 Auburn, 2013 Auburn, 2011 LSU.

Well, let's look at things...

Alabama has questions at offensive line, running back and quarterback. Each are unproven and there's not much experience at any. BUT, they return the best defense in college football and will be hard to score on. They also have a lot of talent and experience at wide receiver and tight end, although it may not be showcased as much as hoped.

We might see another Alabama team like 2008, 2009 or 2011...when they relied on defense, a running game, and didn't put too much trust in the quarterback.

They can still win it all.

I wouldn't say incredibly low. They have a tough schedule this year, and even the best teams stumble (c.f. 2010.) It's not like they have anything to prove, really -- they're still the most dominant CFB program of the last 8 years -- so even if they do lose 3 games or more, that isn't really something that a reasonable person could troll them over.

Though the "or more" part chances might be pretty low. That would probably mean they lost all of their biggest games, which isn't likely to happen
