frick LSU fans. I hope it's as last minute of an announcement as possible and none of you can come. As for the football game, if it's here I'll have a great time I'm sure. But most people here don't have football at the front of their minds right now.
I almost wish it'd get canceled so you guys would have a 10-game season but that'd never happen unfortunately. LSU fans are some of the worst I've ever experience, and I've NEVER been to Baton Rouge. I'll never forget seeing LSU fans make fun of a 5 year old girl with her parents in a Gamecock cheerleading costume. Disgusting fans.

Two streets over from my parents from the worst of it a couple days ago... yet their street never got flooded. Concern now is being in a zone that might get flooding due to dams breaking.

LSU fans have made it abundantly clear that they are are not dismissing the situation at all. Nothing about their response has been tasteless at all. This is an SEC football message board.

Carolina Family:
The last 72 hours have been trying ones for our state, including our university. As we have in the past-indeed in very recent memory-we have demonstrated our resilience and compassion. South Carolinians and our USC community among them have rallied to support one another, provide aid and comfort and give of ourselves to those less fortunate. In fact, many of our students, faculty and staff have demonstrated that since Saturday. Students have volunteered at local relief efforts and our own staff have worked tirelessly to make campus as safe as possible for our on-campus residents.
The reality is we've also had members of our Carolina family and the surrounding community severely impacted. Several lives have been lost. Many have lost homes, cars and belongings. Our thoughts and prayers are with those families tonight as we count our own blessings. Our campus escaped serious damage and despite a night without water, we've remained safe.
Sunday and early today USC was in response mode. Our students, faculty and staff helped our community by staying off the roads and sheltering others when they could. People remained calm and assembled the supplies they needed for a temporary situation. We have accessed approximately 100,000 bottles of water that have been, and will continue to be, distributed to students. About 170 portable restrooms have been deployed around campus. Water pressure has been restored to most of the campus but we remain under a boil advisory. Unfortunately, at this moment we cannot be sure that there will be no further interruptions.
As you know, we've encouraged our students to remain on campus and cancelled classes today and tomorrow. We believe this was in the best interest of their safety given the hazardous road conditions that have made travel dangerous. State and local law enforcement have also encouraged people to stay off the roads.
Our senior leadership is in constant communication with state and local officials and tomorrow will be a day for additional important decisions. We must determine if we are able to resume classes on Wednesday or if it's in the community's best interest to cancel classes for the week. There is a lot that goes into this decision and it will not be made lightly. We must reasonably have answers to these questions: will there be reliable and consistent water service; can we safely and securely house on-campus students; can we provide safe and sufficient food service; can we bring all students to campus for class safely given road conditions; will the city and campus infrastructure support our 34,000 students and 6,000 faculty and staff; and, what disruption to the academic and learning environment will our decision make?
Finally, it's important to recognize there is also a difference between holding classes and opening campus for faculty and staff. As a state agency, the university follows the delay and closing determinations of Richland County Government.
Through the evening and early morning hours we will continue to be in touch with state and local officials and other experts. It is our intention to notify the campus tomorrow morning of our decision for the remainder of the week.
Tonight, please keep those who have lost so much in your thoughts and prayers. For those students on campus, take advantage of our dining services and water distribution available until 7 p.m. Then, for those that can, let's head indoors, stay safe and stay warm.

hey butthurt bob: we want to have the game. but if you can't see why having it in the middle of an area that is going through major disaster relief is a bad idea then I don't know what to tell you. LSU fans know all about hurricanes and their impact on lives. We sympathize with you because a lot of us have gone through it. it sucks.
some governmental proactive planning can go a long way in making sure this game happens in an appropriate venue where it is safe.

I'm fine with Clemson fans. Most of them are friends I've grown up with my whole life. More to life than football. Took me a LONG time to figure that out, but I'm only 27 so I'm glad I'm over my days of actually letting South Carolina football ruin my weekends.

My friend, I live in New Orleans...and am a part-time LSU fan. I went through Katrina, evacuated for Rita, experienced many hurricanes.
But PLEASE quit embarrassing the State of Louisiana with this talk about a "hurricane" in South Carolina. It was not a damn hurricane, it was a frontal system that stalled producing long-lasting entrained rain. Winds were never over about 20 knots anywhere.
People in Louisiana know what a hurricane is.. and they know how to Google, and follow weather on NOAA weather, etc. Quit this stupid "hurricane" analogy because if you think this was hurricane damage, you don't know shite...and it reflects on the intelligence of all of us down here.

this SC fan seems to be an outlier. I hope the absolute best for the SC community and surrounding areas. Whole lot of good people there. And being from Louisiana and having to deal with our fair share of natural disasters, LSU fans can absolutely relate and sympathize with SC fans and the Carolina community as well as anyone.
No one. Not anyone. Wants to further endanger the lives of the SC population for a football game. Safety should be and will be the greatest factor in this decision. If the game has to be called off or moved to another location for safety reasons, then so be it.
But this is a SEC sports forum, you can't expect LSU fans and SEC fans alike to not at least discuss whether the game will happen or not.
It's that same passion that makes the SEC so great. No matter the situation or dire outlook, what we all have in common, is the love for college football played on Saturday's in the fall. It has a way to unite and forge together a community in any and all situations.
My thoughts and prayers are with the great people of South Carolina in this trying time. And I'm sure that goes for all LSU fans.
