Other than that one basketball season where four teams ended up tied for the SEC Championship (IIRC Florida, Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee), I have never seen an SEC season go down to the wire like this one.
Here's a look at where we stand:
1. Florida (18-8)
2. Texas A&M (18-9, 1/2 game back)
2. Mississippi State (18-9, 1/2 game back)
4. South Carolina (17-9, 1 game back)
5. Ole Miss (17-10, 1 1/2 games back)
6. LSU (17-10, 1 1/2 games back)
Next Weekend
Florida at LSU
Ole Miss at Texas A&M
Arkansas at Mississippi State
South Carolina at Alabama
To win a Championship

a 3 game sweep of LSU
2-1 vs. LSU with at least one loss by MSU, A&M and SCAR

FLORIDA will share the SEC Championship (assuming no cancelations) with SOUTH CAROLINA if:
South Carolina wins one more game vs. Alabama than Florida does against LSU and MSU and Texas A&M go 1-2 or worse in their series.

though lsu can't be the #1 seed, if they somehow sweep florida they have a pretty decent shot at sharing the regular season title.

It's never going to happen, but it would be SO sweet to see the melt here because LSU lost the series to everyone they could possibly share with.

Upvoted. Thanks for putting all of this together

This is going to be a great weekend for SEC baseball.

State has to be the odds on favorite to win the championship. they WILL get 21 wins. everyone else has a huge hill to climb to reach 21 wins....congrats to john cohen and state college. helluva team

Though very unlikely, if we were to sweep, do we have a decent shot of a national seed?
If not, let's hope we get paired with someone that plays a very hot #2, and loses. I'll take our chances of Baton Rouge winning the Super bid in that case.

I think the top 4 seeds in the SEC Tournament will get national seeds. Right now that's Florida, A&M, State and South Carolina in that order. Ole Miss and LSU are breathing down South Carolina's neck.
Texas Tech has one locked up, and the ACC has two locks in Miami and Louisville.
Florida State and NC State played themselves out of locks this weekend, but certainly have a chance at the last one.
There are no other contenders for national seeds without the NCAA pulling a huge WTF. So, the SEC getting four is pretty good odds. Ole Miss has a head to head problem with State (1-3) and South Carolina (0-3) but could remedy it with a series win over A&M.

i feel like lsu would have to win 2/3 from florida, and then win the sec tournament to even have an outside shot of being a national seed.

I just hope we continue the hot streak. And play well in Hoover, like we usually do under CPM.

At this point, I'll take those odds.
Was it '08 we had that long streak, and ended up with a top 8 seed? Would be nice to repeat that. But after losing almost the entire lineup, and pitchers not performing as well as we expected, I like where we are.

Nice work, dammit. And we all see what you did there. If we were betting, we'd all bet on MSU.

LSU cannot win the outright SEC Championship or end up winning tiebreakers to get the No. 1 seed.
What if....
LSU sweeps UF
OM takes 2/3 from A&M
Arky takes 2/3 from MSU
Bama takes 2/3 from USC
wiuldnt that give LSU 20 wins and everyone else 18 or 19?

Yep. Never thought I'd be rooting for Ole Miss so much to win a series.

they've won 8 in a row now? if they win out and win the sec tournament, that would be 16 in a row. that would be pretty impressive, and would maybe snag them a national seed.
very unlikely though
very unlikely though
