Ole Miss? Miss St? Memphis?

LINK

West Virginia freshman quarterback and former Memphis University School star Barry Brunetti told The Commercial Appeal by text this morning he will transfer to a school closer to home after the Mountaineers' Champs Sports Bowl game against N.C. State in Orlando on Dec. 28.

Brunetti, whom Rivals.com rated the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the Class of 2010, has appeared in two games for West Virginia this season.

The 6-0, 207-pound former U.S. Army All-American and PARADE All-American said he wanted to transfer closer to home to be closer to his mother.

Asked if Ole Miss or the University of Memphis were possible destinations, Brunetti said he didn't know and that he would decide sometime after the Mountaineers' bowl game. NCAA rules require a player to sit out a year after transferring schools except in the instance of a hardship.

Brunetti originally picked West Virginia over Mississippi State. He also had offers from Chattanooga, Duke, Marshall, Memphis, Penn State, Purdue and Tulsa.

Brunetti tweeted earlier today, "Still was great being a Mountaineer. No bitterness anywhere. Love all the times I had here. Family first."

He'll be at Ole Miss in the fall. Nutt will be all over another QB that needs some help.

Think he's coming to Ole Miss, but I have no solid proof.

There is no reason to think otherwise. You need a QB immediately. We don't.

Why isn't Mullen going after him? I mean I know we have quarterbacks but we were after him hard a few months ago and he's a former all american that fits better in Mullen's offense.

I think we would rather have Dak. If we can still keep Dak, I can see no reason to go after Brunetti. I don't even know if his hardship will get approved.

Hey how about you quit stalking me and telling me that after every post.

Why don't you get a mod to check my IP and see if it matches anywhere 601 posted from. I still go to State he lives in Southeast MS.

I think Dak will be perfect. I'm just surprised we haven't heard anything about Mullen going after Brunetti again.

f he goes to OM, Nutt "buys" himself 2 more years of losing seasons but saves himself because "our QB is 'learning' ".

He won't be our starting QB. That won't be an excuse.

He did this every other year at Arkansas. Have a good run of two years then down 3 then decent 2 years then down 3.

He had a grand total of two losing seasons in 10 years at Arkansas.
His team finished ranked four times.

Why do you not think Brunetti would start for y'all? I think he is better than Mackey.

If he was so highly ranked out of high school why did he not have more offers from better schools?

I wouldn't be shocked if Mackey is better than Masoli.

I'm not sold on Brunetti. I went to his rival high school.
