Not worried, we beat Arkansas when it matters in baseball iirc.
It took Costello for you to beat us in Omaha. Unless he's behind the plate calling balls and strikes in the Supers, I'm not worried about it.

But let's admit, La La had maybe one of the finest pitching staffs ever assembled on one college team in the country that year.

Did you just blame losing a series on an umpire?

Did I read that correctly?

I wouldn't consider having a team that you're 1-5 against the past two years on the opposing side of the bracket an easy path. Cock fans better pray UVA is the team coming out of the regional.

Liberty is the class of that regional... We'll be welcoming them to Columbia next weekend. So... not really worried about Arkansas, sorry.

We have the fourth lowest RPI total for a regional, which I think matters more than how long these teams took to get to the post season. If you total up some of those West coast regionals then you really see the joke of this tournament. In fact, I beleive that the SEC is home to the four lowest RPI totals (with Florida having the toughest at like 120 something) while Cal Poly's regional has an RPI total in the 300s.

So, I don't think we have the cake walk some are picturing.

Still bitching about that and blaming Arkansas shortcomings on someone else? Typical.

Actually, according to the RPI of the 2-4 seeds in each regional ours is the 2nd toughest just behind the Gainesville regional:

Combined RPI of 2-4 seeds:

1. Gainesville 122
2. Columbia 124
3. Baton Rouge 128
4. Oxford 148
5. Tallahassee 168
6(t). Charlottesville 172
6(t). Nashville 172
8. Houston 173
9. Louisville 194
10. San Luis Obispo 206
11. Stillwater 237
12. Coral Gables 256
13. Forth Worth 264
14. Corvallis 322
15. La-Lafayette 335
16. Bloomington 336

Another way to evaluate is the combined RPI rank of each team within their seed range; i.e., take the RPI of each seed and evaluate it against the RPI of all other similar seeds and rank them accordingly, then combined the rankings. Based on this method the hierarchy would be:

1(t). Columbia 15
1(t). Oxford 15
3. Baton Rouge 16
4. Houston 19
5. Gainesville 21
6. Coral Gables 22
7. Charlottesville 23
8. Tallahassee 24
9. Louisville 26
10. Nashville 27
11. San Luis Obispo 29
12. Fort Worth 30
13(t). Bloomington 33
13(t). La-Lafayette 33
15. Stillwater
16. Corvallis

Name a better one in memory using the draft as a measuring stick.

That staff not only defeated Carolina, who was the #1 seed in 2000 in the Supers right in our backyard, but the year before that same staff had defeated #1 seed Rice at Rice's place in the regional or super regional, I can't remember which, but I think it was in '99 the first year of the super regional format.

It was a phenomenal staff.

But I'm sure you know better. I'll look forward to you educating me on the better staffs in your memory.

You know that's not the only time SC-Arky have squared off in the postseason? I can look it up when I get home but SC has a winning record vs Arky in the NCAA tournament and have met throughout the years. That's what I was chiefly referring to. Along with 3-2.

I didn't read all that but I think TCU was handed an easy regional (Siena, Sam Houston St, Dallas Baptist) and they are matched up with the Cal Poly Regional in the Supers.

ETA: I took my family to UVA for the 2006 regional and I have no reservations saying their fans suck. Snooty, pink wavingest bunch of college baseball fans, what few there were, I've ever been around.

We had more fans there than they did, at their own park. And their fans were constantly RAing the stadium security staff claiming we were being loud and obnoxious, or yelling too loud, for our players.

Rest of your fanbase seems pretty decent. What happened to you.

You butthurt about the reality of what I typed?

Let me put it more succinct to you .... your fanbase sucks at Regionals, probably Super Regionals too but I guess we'll see if both of us end-up there.

This has to be TCU right, despite the 22 inning marathon? Dallas Baptist was the 2 seed IIRC.

Now they get 3-seed Pepperdine at home for the SR after a week of rest for their lights-out pitching staff.

Frogs are a shoe-in for Omaha now.
