One of the funniest things I've seen was he and D-Mac's post game interview when they beat LSU in '07.
Nutt was screaming "VOTE THIS BAW INTO THE HEISMAN" repeatedly, and McFadden had a mini baseball bat hollering about how Arky "brought dat wood".

What a classless jackass.
He literally could not help himself when it came to taking credit for wins and blaming others for losses.
I hate Gus, but it was so stupid that we had never run the Wildcat, Malzahn hits campus and installs it, and to this day Nutt and his brother still try to take credit for the advent of the Wildcat.
I can't believe we allowed that moron to be the face of our program for a decade.

I think they are gonna have sex right there!!
Still one of the funniest post game interviews I have ever seen. It almost cheered me up after loosing. Didn't matter won the NC anyway.

I didnt hate Nutt. He made it fun to watch, until O's players left and it was quite obvious he couldnt recruit for shite. Then it got dismal. If he could hire a decent recruiter then I dont think he would be a bad coach for some team outside of the SEC. BUT the constant trick plays and the wierd shite he does I dont think translates well in the SEC tbh

He is a better game day coach than you have right now. His problem was, as you pointed out, was that he can't recruit for shite.

quote:You should have. He stopped recruiting and literally didn't condition the players or gameplan his last season. Channing Ward even said he wasn't contacted by anyone on Ole Miss' staff after June until Hugh Freeze called him in December.

His heart was still in Arkansas, I am just glad his arse wasn't!

He recruited fairly well at Arkansas. Mostly luck though.
Those 10 years produced a shite TON of star power from our little state.
He never really had a "plan" though. It was always lets get who we can and go from there kind of thing.
Jason Peters, Shawn Andrews, Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, Chris Houston, Batman Carroll, Matt Jones, Ken Hamlin, Kennoy Kennedy, Sam Olujubutu, Jamal Anderson.
Some fricking super stars in there. Pretty sad he didn't really do shite with them.
We should have won the SEC twice in all reality with him.
That real men of genius vid still makes me laugh my arse off everytime I watch it.
"Oh he almost had it!!!!"

He was great at motivating us as underdogs and he benefited from the greatest period of in-state talent. He was the most ultra conservative coach I've ever seen.
He'd get a 2 point lead in the second quarter and try to chew clock the rest of the game. And his idea of keeping the defense off-balance was "there's no way they'll think we're gonna run it up the middle for the 4th straight time on 4th and 15!".
If we had a play go for 15+ yards he'd keep running that exact play until we were losing yardage.
And who can forget 3rd and really long and only having 2 WRs run routes against 5 DBs

Now that Nutt isn't here, I actually love listening to him just for his hilarious quotes
Saw a video the other day from when he was at ole miss and he was comparing his players having each other's backs to him being in a foxhole in 'nam.
And then who could forget the interview with him on the toilet

You can make a good case that he actually underachieved with the talent he had at both Ole Miss and Arkansas. Yes, he took Ole Miss to the Cotton Bowl two straight years but that team was loaded. Arkansas had some teams that were pretty stacked as well during his years here.
We won some games we shouldn't have with him, but we also lost quite a few games we shouldn't have with him.

Hey I liked that retard and although he ended up being a disaster at Old Mrs (his last season), he accomplished more at Arkansas than any of his successors.

One of my favorite threads on TD involved a discussion back in 2010 between OM and Arkansas fans on the topic of Nutt's house in Fayetteville having been allegedly trash bombed via crop duster by our 'crazy fans'.
Of course, it wasn't true but the topic was interesting.

Ole Miss hasn't necessarily been a good football school.

You could depend on Nutt to beat a team we had no business beating a losing to a team we have no business losing to every season. He somehow had LSU's number but couldn't figure out the likes of Kentucky and Vandy, I swear he had some sort of coaching autism. How do you have a 3 headed monster like Hillis/Jones/Dmac and not accomplish shite with it? How do you go 4 years of your tenure with Marcus Monk being the ONLY Sun Belt-level or above WR on the roster, and still win games?! That man was an enigma wrapped in a riddle bred into a really unstable but oddly cheerful person.
I always wondered what a conversation between he and George W. Bush would be like back in the day, and which one would confuse the other first or if they'd just agree with eachother on every batshit crazy thing that came out of their mouths.
