What about South Carolina this year suggests they beat Vanderbilt. On paper, Vanderbilt is probably a stronger team playing at home.

I don't agree with everything, but thanks for giving a real answer.
Most are expecting the defense to be solid, but offense has question marks. This game just feels like it could play for a Texas upset too.

The defense was incredibly young last year and their pass defense actually wasn't that bad. Those guys are a year older now. They're just really such an unknown on offense with a freshman qb and a new OC.
I think they're trending in the right direction, but how much remains to be seen. I could still see an upset against ND as they beat some pretty good teams last year (Oklahoma and Baylor).
Freshmen QBs almost never work out in year 1. Their OC's track record is abysmal. Their big win over BU was when BU was down to their 4th & 5th string QBs. This isn't blind rival hate. I follow them closer than probably most on here. 8 wins is their ceiling. I cannot see fewer than 4 losses with ND, @OSU, TCU, OU, Cal, @ TTU and the rest of their conference schedule.

I don't really think there is any kind of home field advantage at Vandy other than not having to travel. That stadium is quieter than a church mouse.
Vandy's offense is putrid, ranking 120th last year in total yards and 124th for PPG. Their offense will be anemic. South Carolina has significantly better talent, the question is can Muschamp & co. use it correctly. If Vandy's D can't keep Carolina out of the endzone, Gamecocks win.

On paper, meh...not really.
But..since I am a Gamecock, I still stand by my (admittedly homer) prediction.
Honestly, this team seems to have a dynamic about them that our teams have been missing for a few years now. Will that translate into performance on the field? Remains to be seen...but it is something we absolutely lacked over the past two years.

um, what dynamic is that?

I actually think they go 8-4. That's pretty vast improvement over last season.

I would argue that Muschamp has injected a much needed energy and toughness that the previous regime lacked. The players are excited to play and that's a big help.

Definitely a good guess. I said 9-3 because I think some teams on their schedule are down.

Exactly. All I said is they'll be much improved. I didn't say they were making the playoffs or anything.

I am surprised they let you participate. You are an SEC school in name only....Of course every league needs a team to schedule for their homecomings to get the sure "W"

They believe in themselves again. They are working as a team and not a bunch of individuals doing their own thing. They believe in the program. They believe in their coaches. There are leaders on this team..team members who have willingly and effectively stepped up.
Not even going into the improvements we're seeing in actual performance on the field, what I listed above is a huge difference in the product we put out there the past two year.
ETA: CU_Tigers4life...still salty WE are this state's SEC team while you are stuck in the ACC, huh?
Deny all you want, but if you weren't so full of SEC envy, why else would you keep bringing your filth to AN SEC BOARD?

jesus christ. What a load of reporter lipservice horse shite. Every team says this before the season and during fall camp.
"we've really bought in to coach's philosophy"
"so and so is really stepping up as a leader"
"so and so has been really hitting the weights. He's a different animal this year"
"so and so is catching everything in camp"

How large is your sample size?

You should just ask the mods to change your name to "BoomHurtMyWittleFeewings" and get it over with.
It TERRIFIES you that he just might succeed here after not doing well at Florida. Damn son, get over it. Let it go. It's just fricking sad at this point that you are STILL so hung up on him. Like a bad breakup and you claim to hate your ex and not care what they do, yet you are constantly talking about them and their new committment and how much better you were than the new love, blah, blah, blah, whine, whine, whine, boo fricking hoo.
ETA: GenesChin.. Does NOT change the fact that WE were a University before they were even a state. Seems incredibly elitist to claim a name when we were a functioning University in an established state while they were non-existant in the eyes of this country.

At first I was thinking "wtf, this broad is nuts"
And then I realized that you think I'm a gator fan. Now it makes more sense. As irrelevant everything you just wrote is, I'm glad you took the time to write it.
But "terrified" isn't a word I'd use to describe my feelings towards USCe right now. As a georgia fan, thisis the first time I haven't been worried about south carolina since 2006.

serious question, what is abysmal about Gilbert's track record? I am from the same town as him and know his family well, it was an unexpected jump so I could see if you said maybe he does not have enough of a track record as the main man and the signal caller, but what would you call abysmal about his record.
