We need to look at SEC Scheduling

THIS IS NOT A BAMA SCHEDULE THREAD
Issue: Why are there weeks where great games are getting crammed to bad time slots, why other weeks have slop schedules. Do we need to start regular conference play on Week 1 or Week 2 to spread things out?

What is a bad time slot?

Because we got weeks like week 2 where everyone is playing shitty arse teams and then weeks like this weekend where good games that could be spread out get the shaft.

It's no different than it's always been as far as times go
Only difference is SEC network can show better games at 11 am unlike the old JP games which were all the doormats like Ole Miss and Vandy and even LSU back in the Hallman/Dinardo days.

To make room for the weekly Oregon unwarranted west-coast group therapy game.

Probably because CBS shows tennis the first 2 Saturdays.

Some teams did start league play pretty early. USCe has already played 4 SEC games. UGA has played 2. Vandy has played 3. UK has played 2. UF has played 2. Just because the SEC West insists on dessert first doesn't mean the rest of the league hasn't jumpstarted.

This year it does. We have 7 top 25 teams in the West. Maybe only 1 in the East.

That and a 9 game conference schedule with less creampuffs.

I have no idea what you are saying. Basically, only two teams in the west have played more than 1 SEC opponent 5 weeks into the season. Only two SEC East teams have played less than 2 SEC games 5 weeks in.
By the way, USCe- what the hell is up with your schedule? Why you have a bye week in front of Furman?

Basically in week 2 we need games like Bama-Ole Miss, LSU-Auburn, or Miss St-Ark.
And to answer the other question: The bad time slot is Noon.

It is a damn shame that a potentially fabulous match-up between two undefeated, top 15 west division teams (Texas A&M at Mississippi State) is relegated to an 11 o'clock kickoff.
That game could perhaps be the closest SEC game during the next few weekends, but because of TV arrangements and an early start time both teams will likely sleepwalk through the first quarter and not play up to their true ability.
You also probably have a 11 A.M. start time for Florida and LSU. When the hell has that ever happened before? One of the most entertaining cross-division series in the history of the conference and we're going to make that the early game of the day...makes sense.
It's not like we'll ever see Alabama and Tennessee or Auburn and Georgia play during that putrid time slot.
Alas, it is what is to be expected when the conference is as deep as it is this year.
NO, NO, NO, and NO!!! For the love of God I hate having conference games during the first two weeks of the season. It really screws over the teams that don't hit their stride until the middle of the season and often puts the loser behind the eight ball before the month of October.
I'm not even South Carolina fan, but considering their recent history of starting seasons slow I would not want any part of a conference opener during week one ever again.
I'm not saying cupcakes from non-power conferences or the FCS is better, because it's certainly not, but I am admittedly not a fan of opening up the season against a conference opponent.
If only CBS would offer double-header coverage for multiple weekends during the season then this likely wouldn't be a problem.

Should have voted to play 9 conference games.

No. I want UGA to play the Notre Dame series.

The bigger issue is having a permanent cross division opponent.
But you're a UT fan so I'm sure you want to keep your yearly arse whooping from Bama

This was the last year of US open on CBS. ESPN has the rights from now on, so I really have no idea what this will mean.

It really is. Nobody is ready to watch the game and the players are not sharp either. And it's too damn hot for many games at the start of the season. I don't like going to noon games.

I hate the weekends with dumpy games, but having said that this weekend is going to be excellent.
I can sit on my couch at 12 with a cooler of beer and watch 3 games that interest me in their entirety, consecutively. I can't remember the last time that happened. It's good SEC football for 10 solid hours.
