What's worse, is if details are correct, this is fallout from the Houston Nutt lawsuit...

How incompetent is the NCAA if they dug around for 5(?) years and couldn't find that whereas Nutt's lawsuit has only been around a few days.

NCAA can't subpoena phone records, can only take what is given to them (meaning those records can be doctored if even provided at all).

I question why Ole Miss hadn't done their own internal investigation until now. Clearly they had their heads buried in the sand.

Well if they did it was pretty inept

Can not lol enough at yesterdays OM party line: thanks TOFTR

Presumably Ole Miss would've already gotten access to those phone records while building its case. If there was a smoking gun capable of taking out Freeze AND crippling the football program, Ole Miss likely already knows. Why would Ole Miss blindly ignore the smoking gun and let the whole house burn? If there's something that directly ties Freeze to boosters and bagmen, it doesn't make sense for the school not to have already moved on. They would've fired Freeze and started trying to save their arse instead of continuing to poke the beehive, and they would've avoided a lot of this mess which was obviously going to happen as long as Freeze is still coach. If the phone records put him dead to rights, Ole Miss wouldn't be stupid enough to fight this hard to keep him, and Ole Miss does plenty of stupid things
