Just a few years ago South Carolina was on top of their state. Spurrier had lifted them to new heights, their recruiting was great, and they were beating Clemson every year.

Now they have a new head coach that shows promise, but their momentum from that period has been lost. More importantly Clemson has just won a national title, plus they now have better facilities than USCe.

Any true South Carolina fan must have a very uneasy feeling about their future given what has happened in their state. I know from experience that it sucks to see regional competition win a national title- when Vince Young held that crystal football up I knew my program was fricked for years and frankly that is what happened.

What does the Rant think Clemson's success will do to South Carolina's program, and how long does the Rant think it will take for South Carolina to be on top of that rivalry again? I guess ten years or more.

We've been surrounded by successful programs before and compete in the SEC. That's nothing new.

We have to focus more on ourselves than what Clemson is doing. Although Spurrier left the talent-cupboard empty, the same cannot be said for the facilities and the funds raised during his tenure.

We just opened up a premier indoor practice facility for example, the entire area around the stadium has been completely redone, and a number of years ago we opened up a premier academic facility for the athletes, to name a few.

Fierce competition by our rivals is the same as it's always been, the facilities are not, it's all up to Muschamp's recruiting and coaching ability now.

I used to think Muschamp would bury them into the ground to where they would never recover, also due to Clemson's success.

But then he beat Tennessee and had a decent season considering..

I take a lot of that back now. I think Clemson is in for some rough years sans Watson and Muschamp will have them to 8 win seasons (which is considered successful there), with the occasional 9 win season. He may be there a while.

Given the fact that in our 3 11 win seasons, Clemson also went 10-4, 11-2 and 11-2, I don't really see what one has to do with the other.

2013 we literally both finished in the top 10. Will it make it harder to recruit? Sure, but even in that run we never set the recruiting world on fire.

Better facilities? Nah. When our new Ops building is finished next year both it and our indoor facility will be better than Clemson's.

I got us going 8-4 this year. We aren't screwed. We just fell off.

it cracks me up how fans who are not being recruited will assert one program's facilities are better than another. did you tour the facilities at different colleges? lol

no specifics are ever provided and that seems like a subjective thing that would vary to recruit to recruit.

it seems to me that every large university would have nice enough facilities.

People said the same thing the year Boyd and Sammy Watkins and other good players left. Your projection isn't based on a detailed look at the players now at Clemson and who will be coming next year. Clemson has the no. 1 QB recruit committed for next season.

Funny considering how much you like to battle about Clemson's engineering program relative to others.

All I say is it is as good as other engineering programs out there that Clemson haters like you say are better even though you don't have any independent knowledge of the colleges being compared and you are not an engineer.

And all we're saying is that our facilities are as good as other facilities. What of it?

I saw comments that SC facilities will better than Clemson's. Stop being a hack.

WHy do you have to be contentious when a Clemson person posts on here? Take off your SC jersey and hold a civil conversation for once.

lot of poverty and ghetto in Richland County.

if being in Richland County is a plus, why hasn't SC been the better football program across time.

Clemson has fricked a lot of teams in recent years. They've beaten Bama, LSU, Auburn, and South Carolina from the SEC. They damn near beat my team last year as well. They are a good team for sure.
