Not to mention he is our new AD.. so I can't imagine because Tanner is gone suddenly the department starts to neglect the baseball program or something.

Agree completely, kinda like when Skip became our AD. I just meant I respect him a lot and think he was/is an asset to the sport who I preferred to see on the field.

It's interesting how we do too.

In order of offensive production for OM:(bold being now gone)
Yarbrough
Mathis
Snyder
Newalu
Allen
Kirksey
Bousfield
Overbey
Mistione
Anderson

Hube was a freshman AA in 2010

We aren't talking about freshman AA there, chief. Preseason first-team All-American overall.

ETA: I think Ole Miss has potential to be very good this year -- particularly @ starting pitcher. However, I think many of you are setting your offensive expectations awful high given that you lost 78% of your homerun production and 53% of your RBIs...

I still don't understand that move

Tanner always wanted to be an AD and he took advantage of our opening after Hymen left.

He knew he was leaving the baseball program in good hands with Coach Holbrook and I have no doubt that Tanner will be a good AD.

He's a winner and plus, he's already hired Frank Martin.

How is OM supposed to be better than state when you are losing 4 out of 6 of your best offensive players from last year? We are returning all ours???? Dafrick??

We'll see. New Head Coach, albeit he has been the top assistant for years. No Roth or Price. I think we'll make the NCAA tourny for sure but I'm less confident that we get enough wins to host a regional. Sure hope so though.

Teams hosting regionals:

Arkansas
Vandy
LSU
UK
Ole Miss

Teams not hosting but making a regional:
USCe
Miss State
Texas A&M
Florida

Teams who end up in Omaha:

Arkansas
LSU

Teams at home the entire time:
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Tennesse
Missouri

What are your way too early predictions for post season baseball? I can't wait for it to gear up.

Also a couple of notes:
- USCe have a new coach and other things factored into where they end up.
-UK got shafted last year out of a hosting a regional, they will host this year instead of traveling.

Deciding which one is South Carolina, trying to decide which one is what ... well:

You guys were pinch hitting Pollorena in your regional because he was the best left handed bat you had off the bench.. Guy had one hit on the season.. A bunt single

A bunch of guys out with injury...

Plus we lost our 6 starting position players prior to last year. We lost zero this year. And added 2 Canadian National team players, a JUCO 2B, and a PG 9.5 catcher, among others...

I think State is gonna be really good... Just don't think starkville is gonna be a host site... It's been a long time since Dudy/Noble hosted postseason baseball... I'll believe it when I see it

The Clemson Super Regional was 2007... And MSU hosted regionals in 2000 and 03... The Super was backed in to as both #1s lost on both sides of the bracket... Should've worded it better.. Was talking about being a regional host site

How are looking at catcher? We've really struggled at that position since Barry Gunther!

It's been a long time since MSU baseball was on the level that we consistently expect. 2001 to be precise. The McMahon tenure was the baseline of what we expect(it certainly didn't surpass expectations). Polk 2 was the disaster that built Swayze. Thanks LT!

This year, we are back to what we expect MSU baseball to be for the first time under Cohen. Might as well pull up a chair and get used to it. The #13 Collegiate Baseball preseason ranking is too low IMO. PG and Baseball America will both rank us higher, since Rodgers and Fitt are both predicting us to Omaha this year...

Only took 30 years and a terrible MSU decade to catch up...

No worries, will be back in it's place well behind the Carnegie Hall of College Baseball soon... It's nice to have the architect that designed Camden Yards and the Fenway renovation as an MSU grad. She's drawing up the Dudy Noble renovation as we speak
